AJC.com: Obama wants to tax water!
The volume and audacity of lies pouring from the McCain campaign is startling and even historic. This one may represent a new low — at least a new low as of Sept. 13.

In a new TV ad, McCain claims that Obama has been making attacks on Sarah Palin that have been labeled “completely false” and “misleading” by FactCheck.org.

Except FactCheck says that’s a lie. “We said no such thing. We have yet to dispute any claim from the Obama campaign about Palin,” the group states.

That’s really something, lying straight out about a FactCheck group, knowing that you’re going to get caught but not giving a damn about it.

With stuff like this, the McCain camp has cut any remaining tethers to reality and integrity and is now floating wherever the winds of illusion and whimsy may take them. It’s quite remarkable, and quite insulting to the intelligence of the American people.

1. If you keep repeating it there is 30% of the population that will belive it.

2. Yup
How many people will bother to check FactCheck.org to see if McCain's add is true? The Idiocracy of America is well on it's way.

"You get the government you deserve", America. And half the country is so blind and stupid, they're going to drag the rest of us down with them.

4. What got me was this part:
"That’s really something, lying straight out about a FactCheck group, knowing that you’re going to get caught but not giving a damn about it."

5. My mother gets daily smear-forwards from her right wing relatives.
Many of them will actually start with a disclaimer like, "I checked this one out on Snopes because its so bad that its hard to believe....BUT it checked out!" Then, they will even link to Snopes.com. When my mom looks up the validity of the forward on Snopes, inevitably its been debunked. The people compiling and sending out these bullshit smears about madrassas and flag salutes and the anti-christ are banking on the fact that the majority of people in this sort of email loop are looking for any reason to not have to vote for a Democrat and, therefore, won't bother to find out if the smears are true or not.

We really have NOTHING like this, do we? Remember how fast we policed the threads about Sarah Palin's book ban list? These right wing smears still circulating have been making the rounds for over half a year.

6. I hope you reply to all...
with a link to the snopes page and quote where it's debunked. Tell people you don't appreciate being lied to.

I think some of these people are just rationalizing their own racism, or whatever it is that makes them hate and fear Obama. They think the ends justify the means, to the point of fabricating lies.

If they're religious, ask them when did they make an exception to the rule about bearing false witness?

Good luck!
