Bluegrass Legend Ralph Stanley Endorses Obama ! |
|
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/virginiapolitics/2008/09/post_89.html?nav=rss_blogThe Stanley Brothers have been cultural icons in Appalchia for decades. There is great potential here for a terrific Obama commercial. The fact that peple like Ralph Stanley and Toby Keith feel comfortable coming out for Obama given the culture they operate in says a whole lot to me. Screw the polls.... Here's Ralph in action--- real old-style mountain bluegrass.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwIzbjY0T6A&feature=related

4. Ralph Stanley's endorsement means a lot to me |
|
Toby Keith, not so much.
My dad played the fiddle in one of the Okie bands in CA's central valley back in the 50's, but he always loved the old-time music.

I'd posted this late last week. It already dropped off the DU charts. Dr Stanley still carries a lotta weight in coal country.
