After the bloodbath on Wall Street, the McCain/Palin economic message sounds something like this: Once the hockey mom starts slashing earmarks like she did in Alaska (okay, they actually went up, but our "thanks but no thanks" rhetoric will drive them down by force of will), we'll all save trillions of dollars (alright, the reality is that annual earmarks comprise about 2 percent of the federal budget ... but symbols matter!) and there will be buyouts, tax cuts, ice cream and lollipops for everyone! And we'll all start driving big American cars (with tailfins!) again, fueled by offshore American oil (assuming our economy can stay afloat for another decade as we wait and transfer our wealth to the Arabs), and Wall Street won't dare cross Big Bad John, they'll just go back to doing whatever it is that they do (Cindy will explain it to him later.) And we'll spend our spare time shooting those evil Wall Street thieves from helicopters with machine guns. Act fast, VP Palin is offering a $500 bounty for every cufflink.
