Not health care for all, but health insurance for all - now that we own AIG

and they're all telling us how selling off it's businesses will be enough to pay back that $87 billion of taxpayer dollars - why can't we just tell them we don't want the loan paid back (not like any of the rest of this bailout money will be anyhow). If anyone really thought the biz could be split up and make money selling off the pieces, then someone would have.

We should call our Congress critters and demand health insurance. How hard can that be? We've paid for it in advance now. We, the People own an insurance company now. They can just think of that $87 billion as a pre-payment for our lifetimes rather in the ever increasing monthly payment system we have now.

$87 billion to bail out a mis-managed greedy company that paid it's failed CEO a $68,000,000 firing bonus.

1. You've got a few extra zeros there.

But that's not the main thing I wanted to say. I think these bailouts are great, because it puts it in peoples' minds that nationalizing major industries is a good idea in the first place. :hi:

3. Thanks - I get tired of writing out the words, the zero's add a little
reality to it.

Can someone remind me again how much universal healthcare for everyone was? And the Republicans went apeshit.

Can someone remind me again how much nutritious lunch/breakfast for school children was? And the Republicans went apeshit.

Can someone remind me again how much early childhood education programs for everyone was? And the Republicans went apeshit.

Can someone remind me again how much low income housing programs were? And the Republicans went apeshit.

Can someone remind me again how much active duty pay raises and real veteran's benefits were? And the Republicans went apeshit.

Maybe, my fondest hope - is that the half of the country who routinely fucks themselves and the rest of us over because they're too stupidly blinding by the ideology of Big Business to vote for their own interests will finally wake up and realize they've been lied to all along.
