Sara Palin may also suspend her campaign
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Sarah Palin may also suspend her campaign, matching running mate John McCain’s announcement that he would cease campaigning for president to return to Washington to try to hammer out a fix for the nation’s financial meltdown.

As the governor of Alaska, Palin cannot participate in the high-level federal government deliberations on the economy that McCain gave as his reason for suspending his campaign.

Yet, after McCain’s dramatic announcement, his campaign chief Steve Schmidt suggested Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, would also suspend her campaign.

“We're going to take the ads down. They won't be traveling. There won’t be rallies,” Schmidt said when asked about Palin’s campaign, according to a rough transcription provided to reporters.

~snip~

Asked about Schmidt’s comment, given Palin’s inability to participate in congressional deliberations, spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt told reporters on a Wednesday evening conference call “We are part of the McCain-Palin campaign. It is one ticket.”

But she demurred when asked specifically whether Palin, too, would be suspending her campaign.

“I think Sen. McCain was clear about what it meant that he was suspending his campaign,” Schmitt said, “So, if we have any announcements, any updates about her schedule, we will certainly let you know.”

4. When did it start?
This cupcake hasn't been exposed to any questions from anyone not part of the Sarah Palin cult. As far as I know, she's yet to start campaigning. Reading a teleprompter in front of adoring fans don't count.

8. Huh? This is getting more bizarre by the minute.
Are they afraid to let Palin campaign on her own? Is she observing a period of mourning for their dead campaign? Is she trying to grab more time to "cram" for her big test (next week's debate)? Have Palin and McCain been surgically joined at the hip?

9. Has she BEEN campaigning? I thought she was still in that glass bubble!
Really...all I've seen or heard of Sarah in the last week was the media forbidden to tape her meetings with all those "world leaders" and OH, GOD FORBID let a reporter ask her someting! She's refusing to speak about trooper gate. She won't hold a Press Conference.

If she actually suspended campaigning, would we even notice????

16. This is almost as weird as Perot's stunt in 1992 - when he pulled out of the race and then got back
in after a while. But I have never heard of a major party nominee suspending their campaign. McCain is toast.

Pure and transparent. Brian Williams announced McPalin wants to reschedule Friday's POTUS debate for Oct 2, and postpone the VP debate indefinitely.

24. McPalin know this - Palin is devoid of spontaneous thought
on issues because she's so profoundly ignorant of them. You saw the gears in her head grind to a halt when Couric pressed her on McCain's relationship with Rick Davis? It was excruciating moment for for the campaign, and that was just the interview's teaser. I'm googling furiously for more copy that's picking up on McPalin's weasly scheme to cancel the VP debate.

out of the debates. Keeping MCain out is another republicon bonus. Of course, the GOP also wants to crash the government completely. Then they can say, "Look at Obama. He was campaigning while the economy crashed! He doesn't care about the economy; he just wants to be president!"

We all know that McCain is the one who doesn't care (or understand) about the economy and just wants to be President. Republican playbook 101 -- accuse the other side of doing whatever heinous thing your side is doing.

The GOP priority now is to completely crash the economy before the election and blame Obama. Bush's pre-Iraq war style fear mongering speech tonight was definitely intended to push us into panic, forcing the passage of his huge corporate socialist giveaway, bringing the Bushco Cabal "Take Down America" plan to fruition.
