Palin To Pull Out Of VP Debate: Refuses to Participate Until Couric Interview Crisis is Averted. Women Against Abuse Join Palin in Push To Squash Debate
September 28, 2008 · Filed Under 2008 Election, Media, Sarah Palin, Satire

Early today, the McCain Campaign put out a release stating that Republican Vice President nominee, Sarah Palin, will not be showing up for Thursday’s VP debate in St. Louis.

“Governor Palin will be taking the first plane back to CBS and will stay there until she is able to come up with a bailout of the interview she did with CBS anchor, Katie Couric.

“It seems someone has that interview on a loop,” said Plain spokesman, Tucker Bounds.
“Just as soon as they finish airing one segment, another one starts rolling around the Internet. Governor Palin is running for Vice President, not YouTube viral joke of the day.”

“It was like I had to make up every answer,” said Palin in a statement written for her by someone other than herself. “If I knew that my responses to Katie’s questions were not going to be provided to me before hand then I wouldn’t have done the interview in the first place. Katie is a good mom and pretty darn smart, but clearly, she is in the tank for the Democrats, y’betcha.”

5. Palin rushed back to Alaska to keep eye on Russia
http://steveyoungonpolitics.com/palin-suspends-vice-presidential-campaign-rushes-back-to-alaska-to-keep-an-eye-on-russia/

“Guys and gals, this is exactly the time that those Ruskies like to attack like they did at Pearl Harbor, don’tcha know,” said Palin. “I would hope that Senator Biden would join me and put the country above the campaign and come back to Alaska to make sure the USSR doesn’t try something funny.”

“Governor Palin believes that geography is more important than politics,” said McCain campaign spokesman, Tucker Bounds. “If Senator Biden wants to place his Vice Presidential aspirations over the security of America, then we’ll let the voter decide who they’d rather wake up next to in the White House at 3AM in case the president dies.
And if the American voter wants to picture that person wearing a flimsy, sheer, shortie negligee, so be it.”

Asked by Katie Couric what she would do if Russia did make a move toward America, Palin was quick to appear earnest.

“I’d say, thanks, but no thanks, Katie. You know, I put that plane on eBay.”

6. I actually feel sorry for Katie Couric
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 10:12 AM by UK populist
Just think she gets to finally to be a news anchor and she must think "Yes I can call myself a Journalist", But all of a sudden for the first time in her life she is actually sitting there realizing what it must have been like for all those people who have had to sit through one of her interviews. It must have been one of them moments that made her feel worthless and could be the onset for a serious mid life crisis.
I don't know if it will be the end for Palin, But I think Katie might have to do some soul searching about her future.

If Palin were a male candidate . . .
By CARL HIAASEN

The vice presidential debate is set for next Thursday, and millions of voters will be watching to see if moderator Gwen Ifill of PBS behaves herself.

Most journalists are still getting accustomed to the Sarah Rules, as established and enforced by John McCain's campaign team. The most important is Sarah Rule No. 1: Don't treat Gov. Palin like a male candidate, or you'll be accused of character assassination.

Maybe this is why McCain has kept Palin sequestered from the press -- not because he's terrified she'll pull a Dan Quayle and say something goofy (as she did to Katie Couric), but because he gallantly wants to protect her from all the chauvinist meanies who would ask impertinent questions.

Likewise, the same right-wing gasbags who've trashed Hillary Clinton for 16 years have morphed into sensitive souls when it comes to their own hockey-mom candidate. Each unsettling news revelation about Palin is automatically decried as a sexist smear.

If Palin were a male candidate, Democrat or Republican, she'd be taking heat for ducking reporters when the election is only five weeks away. Yet, except for a few grumps, the media have reluctantly accepted the Sarah snub as the new order of things.

In the big debate it will be interesting to see if the rules are followed, or broken.

If Palin were a male candidate, for example, she would again be asked (as Charles Gibson did) why she took credit for killing Alaska's notorious Bridge to Nowhere, when in fact she supported the $223 million boondoggle until Congress turned against it.

If Palin were a male candidate, she might also be encouraged to discuss why she chose a high-school pal to head Alaska's Division of Agriculture at a $95,000 salary. Among her flimsy qualifications, the woman, a former real-estate agent, claimed an affection of cows.

If Palin were a male candidate, she'd be asked why she put another childhood friend in charge of a money-losing, state-subsidized creamery that was supposed to shut down until Palin reversed the decision. As The Wall Street Journal reported, the doomed dairy cost Alaskans more than $800,000 in additional losses before it was finally closed.

:yoiks:  Just read the headline before attacking.
