Did John McCain put country first?
John McCain has repeatedly maintained he always puts his country first, but his campaign tactics of smear and fear have put the lie to that claim.

McCain and his surrogates have pulled out all the stops to paint Barack Obama as a radical, a socialist, a Muslim, an unpatriotic terrorist sympathizer. Barack Obama is none of those things. He is the next president of the United States of America, and his efforts to lead our country out of the morass left behind by the administration of GW Bush will be undermined by the false impressions planted by McCain and Palin.

We need to rise above the politics of personal destruction, find the common ground we all share, and work together for a better future. This has been the central theme of Barack Obama’s campaign and will be the task of our next president and of all Americans. John McCain, by sewing the seeds of fear and distrust, has made that task more difficult.

This will be my LTTE tomorrow morning.

6. Your first response
cracks me up!

Less funny: Palin in a faceoff with Putin. Of course, that's after he "rears his head" in Russia ... whatever that means.

Something we won't have to worry about.

2. Not when he picked Palin
I have heard several respected journalists and columnists say that McCain didn't put country first because of palin. He picked an unqualified, unreasonable wingnut to appeal to female voters rather than someone who could take over if he died.

3. No he didn't
For his entire life, John McCain has always put John McCain first, ahead of country, family, comrades-in-arms, everything. He is concerned only with himself.

He sold his soul to the conservative Christian base when he picked the "energy expert".

13. Thanks for the typo correction!
In the actual LTTE I changed that to "cultivating" the seeds because I think the seeds were already there in the latent racism and ideology of those already indoctrinated by the right.
