Obama faces pressure, but Palin's a 'dingbat'

US president-elect Barack Obama has arrived in the nick of time to hopefully develop global agreement on climate change and the world financial crisis, former prime minister Paul Keating says.

Mr Keating, federal Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull and Oxford University Chancellor Chris Patten exchanged frank discussion and the occasional good-humoured barb at the annual Oxford Business Alumni Forum in Sydney tonight.

Lord Patten even went as far as to label US Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as a "dingbat".

The trio talked and debated on the global financial crisis, the importance of China in world affairs, climate change, the Australian economy and the victory by US Democrat senator Barack Obama.
