I haven't read far into the indictment (that will probably go nowhere) of Cheney but the fundamental question appears to have been passed over.

I thought that people in public service at certain levels had to relinquish control over to a blind trust. They can still get regular reports of how much money they have of course but they can't know WHAT they are invested in...I thought. Their position of policy direction (lets skip over there being actual policy in this administration) very often does directly affect performance of stocks bonds etc.

Trustees tend to do a very good job of managing assets. Ask any pensioner back when contractual obligations of retirement were kept apart from the company's finances. Ask the super wealthy trust fund babies.

Does Cheney have direct knowledge of how his assets are invested?

1. He knows where $85 million goes.
And, he has some pull on ICE.

2. Yes but Bush thought they said, "Put your asses in a blind trust."
So Bush sent Cheney to an undisclosed location.

3. Yep.
And yep.

They are told what they're invested in--retrospectively, on their tax forms. But knowledge that you *were* invested in X doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot, especially when the investment at issue is something like a stock fund. Whether Cheney cares about what all the stocks that Vanguard had in that particular fund to have looked them up and realized that the company running the prison was among them is an open question. I'm thinking he didn't care.

Note that the tax forms for prominent politicians are, traditionally, made public. That's how Guerra got the information, no doubt.
