http://www.tribstar.com/opinion/local_story_331134130.htmlMr. Elia showed a similar displeasure in his letter published on the same day although he justified his vote for McCain as “his policies, views, and ideology more closely agree with my own, and my faith.” What policies, views, and ideology are aligned with his faith, I wonder? Oh yes! It makes sense now. I think Jesus Christ was a man who favored tax relief for the rich over helping the poor. He wouldn’t be concerned about 45 million Americans without health insurance. Neither would he be too eager to help the millions who have lost their jobs, pensions, and their dignity.
Jesus Christ would certainly not advocate ending wars in the Middle East or lowering national defense spending; that’s not good for business. And I am sure Christ would condone the entire Guantanamo Bay fiasco where people are held against their will without trial and subjected to torture. Who doesn’t realize that Christ would embrace “trickle-down” economics and capitalistic greed as well? He did despise tax collectors, no doubt. As I reflect on Christ’s message, I can almost hear him saying: “No handouts! Work harder! Prosperity will trickle down. We just have to enrich the rich and have faith.”
All one has to do is consult Merriam-Webster on the distasteful, dirty “L” word to get a sense of how Obama might reign in the end times. Liberal — 1: marked by generosity, openhanded 2: not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms 3: one who believes in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties.
Are you reeling with fear yet?
