There is no pork barrel spending in the stimulus package
Pork barrel spending refers to spending that is designed to benefit constituents of a specific politician. For example, Senator Richard Shelby got $1.5 million dollars as part of the 2000 Interior Department Appropriation bill to refurbish Birmingham's giant iron statue of Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge. Senator Shelby (R) successfully slipped the $1.5 million in to the Interior bill to please constituents back home in Alabama.

1. By strict definition that is correct
I suggest, however, there is unnecessary spending in the House version of the Recovery Act.

4. Yes but
the GOP spin artists aren't calling it "unnecessary spending." At least many of them aren't. I've seen a plethora of editorials and articles today referring to pork barrel spending. Why should we listen to the party that got us into the mess we're in?

9. well if....
MSNBC and CNN would talk to any of the Democratic Senators about the Stimulus package instead of just talking to the likes of Arlen Specter and other Republican senators, I'd be really happy. But apparently they're only interested in hearing the GOP side.

2. Well, "pork" is really a judgemental word
One man's pork is another man's meat.
