All, not just conservatives, have right to radio voice
I found this piece to be interesting and thought I would pass along.

By James Dull

IN the midst of two wars and a global economic crisis, conservative talk-show hosts have found time to complain about a possible revival of the fairness doctrine, which required broadcasters to seek and air virtually all community viewpoints and interests.

The Federal Communications Commission abolished the fairness doctrine in 1987 after it was attacked as a restriction upon the First Amendment rights of broadcasters.

Then most restrictions upon the number of stations that any individual or company might own were removed.

The changes opened the way for the present concentration of ownership of radio stations, national syndication, slashing of local radio and the preponderance of conservative talk radio.

1. Indeed, the public's airwaves should be available to all political points of view. nt
