Transportation Secretary LaHood to meet with States today to discuss shovel-ready projects
Excerpt:

When Directors from State Departments of Transportation meet in the Eisenhower Executive Office building today, LaHood will speak on the relationship between national tranportation issues and the Economic Recovery Act. Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will also speak to the group.

LaHood said recently that the plan is to get money to states for roads and mass transit projects as soon as the Economic Recovery Act is signed and states present plans.

Funding that will go to states for roads and highways projects will accomplish two things. First, it will put people to work. Secondly, it will begin the long process of rebuilding our nation's frail infrastructure.
