President Barack Obama meets with area widow, others (Danville VA)

... Jacqueline Saunders, the widow of Timothy Saunders, was present at the meeting President Barack Obama held last Friday with the families of the victims of the USS Cole and the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The meeting came in the wake of Obama’s decision to halt legal action against one of the bombing suspects, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri.

Although skeptical at first of Obama’s decision, Saunders said she left the meeting with a “calm, peaceful assurance” ...

“After the first 10 to 15 minutes, he calmed us down,” she said. “I had a calm, peaceful assurance that he had made the correct decision. He said that he doesn’t want a double jeopardy decision later. He doesn’t want to hold the detainees there with the charges they have now. He wants accurate charges so that when they go to trial, justice will prevail” ...
