Even tho they moved Hellen's seat...she takes a back seat to no one.
Clarke's report that Bush was obsessed with Iraq -- not al-Qaida -- raises questions about Bush's core claim that he should be re-elected because of his role as commander-in-chief in the war on terrorism.
The administration still hasn't succeeded -- despite huge efforts -- in making a connection between the war against terrorism and our military conquest of Iraq.
Clarke's main thesis about Bush and Iraq gets support from Bob Woodward, The Washington Post's legendary Watergate reporter, whose book, "Bush At War," quoted Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld as saying on Sept. 12, 2001: "Let's bomb Iraq."
In the ensuing run-up to the 2003 U.S. invasion, no one could miss Bush's fixation on Saddam. I sat through many, many White House briefings where Saddam -- not al-Qaida -- was the official administration target.
By their personal courage, Foster and Clarke may inspire others to come out with information the people have a right to know.
