My LTTE, Re; "You say Fallujah, I say Rambo!"
Kathleen Parker's story here:

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/kathleenparker/kp20040403.shtml

My response:

Ms. Parker-

I read your story "You say Fallujah, I say Rambo!" today and I felt compelled to write you and express my amazement that there are millions of Americans who would seriously consider nuking Fallujah, a city of 250,000 people, as fitting revenge for the actions of a few criminals there. Honestly, I don't pretend to be much of a Christian, certainly not in the Jerry Falwell sense of the word, but even this sinner has a hard time getting my mind around the magnitude of retribution that you assume millions of my fellow Americans feel. Maybe I'm just not hateful enough.

OK. so I give you the benefit of doubt and think that this is some kind of hyperbolic literary set-up tool to make your point that it really wasn't a good idea. But then your off envisioning setting a MOAB off in the Sunni triangle, so I am seriously wondering if I'm out of the norm here. That thought never crossed my mind, either.

I, too, hate that up close and personal "shock and awe"....it was far more enjoyable when viewed from a 3 mile vantage, lighting up Bagdahd at night. Almost like fireworks. And who can understand the hatred of these zoo animals? We've paid extra special attention to them for 35 years. We gave them Saddam, lots of money, weapons, etc. so they could be our proxy in their 80's war against Iran. Then, when Saddam got a little too carried away and attacked Kuwait for slant drilling in his oilfields, we laid a good ol' American licking on him ala Desert Storm 1. We kept after them throughout the 90's with that economic embargo and taught 500,000+ Iraqi's what perserverence in punishment really means. Then, thanks to George W. Bush, we gave them Operation Iraqi Liberation, OIL, for short. True, this administration had to tell us small untruths to get us in, but it was worth it. Only $200BB spent and 10,000 or so Iraqi lives lost. And our 600+ American brothers and sisters did not mind dying there to protect freedom and that expensive oil extraction equipment.

But desecrating the bodies of those 4 "contractors", now that was way over the line of common decency. Bunch of cowards. Why don't these people stand up to our M-1 Abrams tanks and F-18 fighters, like real warriors would?

One of my friends speculated today that these people are fighting for their democracy. Do you believe that? He also said that back when we were fighting our Revolutionary War, we also had a problem with "contractors" who were paid by a mad-man named King George. They were Hessians....apparently, England had problem getting recruits in England to fight the terrorists who infestered the colonies. Oddly enough, more than a few of those "contractors" were mutilated, too. I guess they were sending a message to future "contractors" that their services weren't wanted.

God Bless America (damn it,we deserve it)!

1. nice response, OAITW
to yet another bloodthristy 'Christian' who can't seem to fathom why on earth the Iraqi people would hate us after we 'liberated' them.

2. Good response
When I heard of the mutilations I first thought it was Mogadishu all over again. I knew that there would be a few loons that would want to nuke Fallujah and destroy the town but that is what I expect from Free Republic. I never expected to hear it from minstream media personalities such as O'Reilly and Ms. Parker.

Is it just me or does the country seem to reek of fascism all of the sudden?

It is my personal belief that nukes should never be used again for any reason. No matter what. Didn't we enter this war harping about the dangers of Saddam's nonexistant WMD and the threat they posed to his neighbors and fellow Iraqis?

Turns out our WMD is more of a threat to Iraq and it's neighbors.

4. Good point!
There is a sort of absurd and bizarre irony in this thinking. We invade to stop Iraq's non-existant WMD, only to contemplate vaporizing Iraq into non-existance with our WMD.

6. A thoughtful response to a website that doesn't deserve it
I wouldn't have believed that a website that purports to "inform, educate and empower the public" would publish someone who admits their first reaction is mass murder - and claims their family are also would-be mass murderers. By saying her immediate impulse is to kill 100,000 innocents for each person killed by unknown criminals in Fallujah, she really does put herself in the same bracket as Hitler, Stalin, Saddam or bin Laden - only not as successful.

The fact that she settles for Rambo (what's that - a few dozen killed at random?) is hardly reassuring. If the woman has children at home, I really think the police and social services need to watch them - she seems at real risk of abusing them. I do literally mean that. Her lack of self-control borders on the psychopathic. At the least, it looks like a 2 year old.

Frighteningly, the parent "Heritage Foundation" has over 1300 references to it in Google News over the last month. These moral infants are in charge of a university of public opinion.
