... in response to a local columnist named Tim Chavez. His subject will be painfully clear soon after you begin reading.

Tim Chavez could not have been more wrong in his column of April 16. I will leave it to better writers to comment on the column in its entirety since I was only able to get through the first paragraph before gagging into a state of unconsiousness.

Air America was dropped from the Chicago air waves not because of a bounced check but because of a disput between the station owner Arthur Liu and Air America chairman Evan Cohen in which Cohen felt his only recourse was to stop payment on a check written to Liu.The dispute revolves around Liu double selling time reserved to Air America and while I do not know the particulars I know I have already done more research than Chavez. By the way the adjective hack comes to mind at this time. Chavez goes on to restate a comment from the New York Daily News, a conservative tabloid in New York, decrying Air America's appearance in that city. I guess it was easier than thinking up your own comments Tim?

What this shows in just one paragraph is the conservative tendency of creating a lie at one source, the bounced check story first showed up in the Drudge Report, and then repeating it often in other sources so that it gains credibility by virtue of the large number of publications in which it appears.

In the future I would thank Tim Chavez to comment on things in which he has first hand knowledge and not report lies straight from the RNC talking points. Of course that is how that side of the aisle took power so I doubt that I will see any changes.

Thank you DU for giving me enough information to answer this columnist although I admit to all of you I may have some facts incorrect because I was more concerned with getting an answer out quickly.
