Talk about teflon! New polls show Bush pulling ahead
Progressives, liberals, etc., etc., should begin thinking now about what to do if Bush is re-elected. Stuff that ought to be having him impeached seems to make him more popular. Seems much of the country feels sorry for him and wants to help him feel good about himself as "war president" -- no matter how many people die or how many lies are exposed.

The link only works if you're registered with Washington Post. This story is surely elsewhere as it was on network TV news this morning.

11. The Headless Horseman Strikes Again!
Yep. It's that skinny Gallup guy, teamed up with CNN/Time to shore up support for Bush and -- with the help of ol' Bill Schneider hammering the CNN audience with the illusion that these figures show the majority of Americans love him -- they REALLY love him.

You might want to go to Zogby for a more "fair and balanced" picture of what the American people are concerned about. Especially if you remember the intense manipulation of the polls during the 2000 campaign where Gallup/CNN/Time not only showed that Bush led Gore by 10 or more points, but insisted with contempt and derision that the vast majority of the Anmerican people couldn't stop laughing at Gore because he was, like, such a liar and sooooo boring...

That skinny Gallup guy is in full damage-control mode. Keep watching him. When he gets through lying on CNN, he jerks off his head, leaps onto the back of his scrawny steed -- and, with a shriek, he thunders back to Sleepy Hollow to collect more numbers...

Here's what Bloomberg had to say just hours ago...

Kerry Leads Bush in Zogby Poll With Help of Independent Voters
April 19 (Bloomberg)

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's support among independent voters is fueling his lead over President George W. Bush in the latest Zogby International survey, the polling firm said.

Kerry, a Massachusetts senator, has support from 47 percent of likely voters to Bush's 44 percent, according to the poll conducted April 15-17. Among self-described independents, Kerry, 60, leads Bush, 57, 48 percent to 38 percent. About 7 percent of voters are undecided. The survey of 1,049 adults has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

3. Maybe we should rethink Kerry as candidate?
No, he's perfect, he's God, and anyone who thinks that he might be the problem shouldn't be a Democrat.

6. The only accurate poll...
that is consistanly right on the money, is Zogby. The last poll they had in 2000 was Gore ahead by 1%, and he beat Bush by almost that...in actual votes... that is.

7. Don't be silly - for some reason the people polled think Repugs are
better at defense than dems. Apparently this is a "standard" opinion, or so I have read and been told.

Of all the dem candidates (besides Clark) Kerry has the best foreign policy defense creds. Now we just have to get the word out.

5. I don't read too much into those polls!
I don't know! It might just me, I do not read too much into those polls because, I have never been polled, anyone that I know have never been polled. How do I know, when these polls are done, that they are taking a true sample. That is why I find if hard to believe what I am hearing from these polls.

8. I too think that the poll results are bogus, but ...
. . . the Karl Rove types know that news coverage of a candidate going up in the polls helps them. Except for that percentage of the American public who reads, thinks and posts on places like this, most Americans are bandwagoners. It's a standard advertising ploy: "Everybody is doing this; jump aboard!" It works.

All I'm saying is that all this bad news and publicity that we think should be knocking Bush off may actually be helping him. He can't be counted out, dammit.

12. My thoughts on the Washington Post Poll
First, the poll contaced randomnly selected adults, not registered voters. I can't believe that this is reflective of the voting public who is slightly more aware of what is really going on.

Second, out of 12 categories, Bush only has the majority of approval in 2 categories, Education and Terror. In all the other categories he has a disaproval rating.

Either the people being polled are totally ignorant and oblivious to what this administration is doing to this country or they're totally partisan.

10. New Soviet Imperial Amerikan LIES
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 10:31 AM by tom_paine
I simply don't believe it. Don't trust it.

Like a Soviet Citizen in 1978 I am much wiser than my counterparts of the 40s and 50s, who swallowed all the Pravda with a spoon unquestioningly.

Maybe it's real and I am mistaken, but that probability has gone so low in my mind after all the Odious Orwellian Pravda I've seen as to be infinitsemial.

I know I am not alone. If Imperial Amerika was still free, the fact that a significant and growing portion of the electorate disbelieves in the integrity of Amerikan voting & polling, that would be a problem to be addressed so that everyone could have confidence in Clean Voting.

But since Imperial Amerika is rapidly trending to Orwellian Tyranny and Slavery, not much is said.

But like in Soviet Russia 1978, we are here, our numbers are growing, and the Busheviks and their Bloated Corporate Pravda Pals can keep pumping out all the "Stalinist Five Year Plans" and "Everyone Loves Stalin Polls", BUT THEY CANNOT MAKE A FREE AMERICAN BELIEVE THE LIES!

Unfortunately, most of the Imperial Subjects of Amerika are still stuck in the Soviet Citizen of the 40s Mentality. They do not realize things have changed, or if they do, ego won't let them acknowledge, internalize and understand it.

That is fertile ground for Tyrants, either Bushevik or Bolshevik, and their Odious Brigade of Lying Liars.

13. that's right!
This thing is still framed as either it is Bush or the teorrists. Average people support monkey because they feel that if monkey is removed, all that is left is the terrorist. It's that simple.

No matter how corrupt Bush is, or how bad a job he does, or how much he socks it to the middle class, he is still seen as better than a terrorist in your living room.

The fact that we haven't been hit in our country since 911 reinforces the simplicity of the Bush argument. That argument says, hey I might not be perfect, but I am the one between you and the teorrist. If I am removed, then only the whiners, complainers and critics, in other words, the terrorist lovers will be left. Oh yes, and the terrorists themselves of course.

Kerry is going to have to do a much better job in explaining why Bush is making terrorism worse. It's like trying to pry a teddy bear away from a child. Kerry has to convince average people that replacing Bush with himself is the way to fight terrorism. That replacing Bush with himself is the way to a better life.

14. But-- but.....
...if Stinky W. is the only thing between us and the terriers, why not take a look at the record. If, as you say, 9-11 is the only terrier attack thus far -- the score is Terriers--1 and Stinky--0.

I am not comforted. Especially since every time I look up,thanks to CNN and FOX, Stinky IS the terrier in my living room.
