3. Sorry no

George Bush broke the GOP and destroyed it. He earned the moniker and I refuse to let him be robbed of it.

6. I agree,
but we both must admit, no, that Palin has done a really good job of stomping it into the ground?

Of course, we can't omit stars like Ensign, Sanford, Craig, Foley, Gingrich (an all-star), Scarborough, all of whom have contributed to the status of the GOPigs today.

And I am grateful to all of them................................

8. Maybe
Bushiepoo dragged the R around almost to death with his Abrams Tank. Thereafter, Gone Fish'n Gal loaded the wobbly Pachyderm in a cargo plane. After a few thousand feet she saddled it and took a free fall ride to terminal velocity while she fumbled with her gossamer chute.

7. Rich is wonderful. He is admirably ambiguous in this piece on Palin's
chances at the nomination, veering from her putting a pretty, sexy face onto ugly resentments of the disenfranchised to suggesting that she will likely never get anywhere near the White House.

So Palin can't bellyache and whimper over unfair representation -- Rich has granted her the entire spectrum of success/failure.

Romney's creep factor is extraordinarily high. I realize he has ultra-bucks and will spend them fiercely to win the nomination. Rich sees Palin defeating Romney. So far anyway, I don't. I think Palin is trying to juggle a hornet nest and doesn't realize that the little animals inside can fly out and sting her.

As other DUers have mentioned, it could be that Palin knows she cannot out-charm Huckabee or out-money Willard and will instead create a third party with herself as its leader and obvious nominee. That would put Palin in the public eye as never before and further expose her spectacular inadequacies for public service while at the same time draining base votes from Romney or Huck, ensuring Obama's re-election.

11. Wow! Read the next to last paragraph...
These are the cries of a constituency that feels disenfranchised — by the powerful and the well-educated who gamed the housing bubble, by a news media it keeps being told is hateful, by the immigrants who have taken some of their jobs, by the African-American who has ended a white monopoly on the White House. Palin is their born avatar. She puts a happy, sexy face on ugly emotions, and she can solidify her followers’ hold on a G.O.P. that has no leaders with the guts or alternative vision to stand up to them or to her.

12. I really believe the GOP is going the way of the Whigs
The way they are dissolving like an Alka Seltzer tablet, well, they are giving the Libertarians one hell of an opening to replace them!
