Why did George W. Bush pick Porter Goss for DCI?

Was Bush Spy Pick on Agency Hit Team?
"Look out kid, They keep it all hid.”
Bob Dylan “Subterranean Homesick Blues”

Aug 24 2004-Venice,FL.
by Daniel Hopsicker

THE MAN PICKED by President George W Bush to head America’s Central Intelligence Agency is even more of an intelligence insider than has so far been revealed...

Although membership in a secret society would seem to compromise a bit anyone being considered to lead an Agency which is itself a secret society, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Republican Porter J Goss of Sanibel Island Florida is a member of the secret society “Book & Snake” at Yale.

President George W Bush's nominee to head the nation's flagship intelligence agency also appears to be visible in a photograph taken in 1963 in a Mexico City nightclub of members of the CIA’s secret assassination squad known as “Operation Forty."

1. How does "Book & Snake" differ from "Skull & Bones"
If you know one secret society, you know them all?

18. I always thought there was something missing about Margaret Warner's interviewing style,
just pulling up short when the discussion dictated obvious uncomfortable questions or changing the subject in order to divert the flow when liberals or progressives were building momentum toward a critical point, giving more time to conservative guests; many times first and last questions.

Thanks for the thread, formercia.

I knew someone would pick up on that.

I fear we are just scratching the surface.

23. Negroponte, fellow snake

JOHN NEGROPONTE & THE DEATH-SQUAD CONNECTION

Bush Nominates Terrorist for National Intelligence Director

by Frank Morales

"He will be a key figure in US counter-terror operations." —BBC News, Feb. 17, 2005

"I think he could have stopped all these assassinations and torture... We're against this nomination. If he didn't see human rights violations in Honduras, it's possible he won't see human rights violations anywhere in the world." —Leo Valladares Lanza, former head, Honduran Human Rights Commission, quoted in New York Times, March 29, 2005

On February 17, 2005, President George W. Bush nominated John Negroponte, 65, to be the United States' first National Intelligence Director." According to various published reports, Negroponte will be the president's "primary briefer" in the area of global and domestic intelligence and counter-terror operations, coordinating and overseeing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other agencies.

His upcoming Senate confirmation seems assured, and that is a scary prospect. Why? Because Negroponte has a long and bloody criminal history, dating back to the early 1960s, of overseeing the training and arming of death squads, schooled in the techniques of torture, "forced interrogation," assassination and, as we shall see, even genocide. He has been described as an "old-fashioned imperialist," active for nearly four decades in Vietnam, Central America, the Philippines, Mexico and most recently Iraq. He got his start back in the days of the CIA's Phoenix program, which assassinated some 40,000 Vietnamese "subversives."

2. More importantly why was Goss picked for House Ethics office AFTER hookergate!

Yeah, we should be wondering the full scope of Goss's involvement in this mess too. But it seems like he's at the center of many controversies, including Hookergate, and even in the problems with AIPAC spies, domestic spying, and what became recently known about what Jane Harman was doing...

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/goss-among-former-members-appointed-to-ethics-office-2008-07-24.html

But, jeesh Nancy Pelosi, why would you and Boehner sign your names to having Goss co-chair of the House Ethics review board, AFTER all of the messes he had earlier. Weren't there so many other people that could have filled the bill beside him that you could agree on?

Something really stinks about that committee appointment and we should be able to hear the details on that if this investigation looks at Goss!

7. Who were the other members?
"it fails to dwell on the more important question: what were Rep. Porter Goss and Senator Bob Graham and other members of the Senate and House intelligence committees doing together with the alleged 9/11 "money-man" at breakfast on the morning of 9/11. In other words, the Washington Post report does not go one inch further in begging the real question"

Inquiring minds want to know.

which seems a bit ridiculous, but here are corroborating links from the History Commons:

on September 11, 2001, ISI Director Lt. Gen. Mahmood Ahmed is at a breakfast meeting at the Capitol with the chairmen of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, Senator Bob Graham (D) and Representative Porter Goss (R), a 10-year veteran of the CIA’s clandestine operations wing. Also present at the meeting are Senator Jon Kyl (R) and the Pakistani ambassador to the US, Maleeha Lodhi, as well as other officials and aides. (Goss, Kyl, and Graham had just met with Pakistani President Pervez Mushrraf in Pakistan two weeks earlier (see August 28-30, 2001)). (Salon, 9/14/2001; Washington Post, 5/18/2002) Graham and Goss will later co-head the joint House-Senate investigation into the 9/11 attacks, which will focus on Saudi government involvement in the 9/11 attacks, but will say almost nothing about possible Pakistani government connections to al-Qaeda and the 9/11 attacks (see August 1-3, 2003 and December 11, 2002). (Washington Post, 7/11/2002)

Someone was trying to kill the messenger.

I compared his writing about events that I was familiar with and my recollections match.
