NIghtline happily crowed about Obama's poll numbers declining since the Inauguration 'Halo' days. No

doubt priding themselves on how chanting:"When's Obama gonna fix the economy?", or: "The Obama plan isn't working!", or more sarcatically: "Well, unemployment is up, I guess the Obama plan isn't working (preferably delivered with slightly derisive tone)." has worked in persuading many half asleep listeners that Obama SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN RESULTS IN SIX MONTHS - against the first DEPRESSION we've had since the Great Depression - also caused by inequitable income distribution and a lack of regulation of financial markets.

This Republican Dystopia, caused by decades of declining real incme for most of the people (not of course, for the top 5% - thank you GOP), a housing bubble caused by inflationary monetary policy (to keep demand up, and keep the economy looking good, despite the great loss of income to the greatest portion of the population) and then the deregulation of the banking industry (commodities Futures Modernization Act) has wrought massive destruction to this economy. Nobody really expected Obama to turn this disaster economy around in six months. But the M$M worked very hard to create the expectation for results right away. The idea was to redirect the dissatisfaction with the Republicans who caused the disaster to Obama for " not fixing" this disaster fast enough.

The M$M also wanted us to forgt that Obama administration said in the beginning that it was not going to turn the economy around right away. They were talking a two year time frame. But the Republican Toadies in M$M had to persuade people that "they" were tired of waiting, that "they" expected results in six months, that "they" should blame Obama for not fixing a disaster that NOBODY COULD FIX IN SIX MONTHS - A DISASTER GIFTED TO THE DEMOCRATS BY THE REPUBLICANS. THis Republican Dystopia will take years to fix, but the amazing thing is the Obama and Democratic efforts (which were achieved by dragging the Republican every step of the way) are already showing some signs of working. (AMAZING, some signs of improvement already - housing starts were up in June, new claims for unemployment were down in JUNe, the index of leading economic indicators was up in JUne (I think this is the third month in a row). Frankly, it's amazing their are any good signs this quick. The plan is working because we are NOT talking about 20% unemployment instead of 10% unemployment. The plan was meant to avert a Great Depression II. To try to lessen the depth of this REPUBLICAN DYSTOPIA. And maybe it's working (it's really too soon to tell for sure).

If you'd like to tell NIGHTLINE what YOU THINK go here:
