An Incoherent Truth - Krugman |
|
Right now the fate of health care reform seems to rest in the hands of relatively conservative Democrats — mainly members of the Blue Dog Coalition, created in 1995. And you might be tempted to say that President Obama needs to give those Democrats what they want. But he can’t — because the Blue Dogs aren’t making sense. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/27/opinion/27krugman.html?th=&adxnnl=1&emc=th&adxnnlx=1248679896-fCTIPDzYr/XIgFlghK+G/Q

"knock away any of the four main pillars of reform, and the whole thing will collapse — and probably take the Obama presidency down with it.
Is that what the Blue Dogs really want to see happen? We’ll soon find out."
Aren't most of the blue dogs from the south? Maybe the first AA President is just too much for them, especially if he is wildly successful.

"the whole thing will collapse — and probably take the Obama presidency down with it."
Excellent column, but is that true - can this take the Obama presidency down with it? No other president has achieved (or even tried) what Obama is trying to achieve, and this haven't taken their presidencies down?

Corporate Money is pretty much equal opportunity. This is not about race. This is about greed.

Jesus Christ, just before reading this I read the screed from that piece-o-crap Nader.
I'm convinced that the two poles in american politics are not left and right, they are reality (exemplified by Krugman) and fantasy (exemplified by Nader).

They'd get a law saying we all have to buy insurance, and the public option wouldn't be viable.
Dammit...I'm reminded of the IWR for some reason...
