Mark Morford: Obama birthers ate my love child!
Obama birthers ate my love child!
The president is an alien! The Republican nutball fringe wants you! Apply now!

By Mark Morford, SF Gate Columnist

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

These are the kinds of things that ooze into your mind and infect your consciousness like some sort of unwelcome but fascinating worm, a cute little parasite you didn't notice for the longest time because you were busy doing something far more interesting and engaging -- like, say, reading a book, sipping a glass of wine, having sex, breathing, clipping your toenails, picking lint off your couch or, well, pretty much anything at all because really, who wants to think about oozing, unwelcome worms?

Do you know about "The birthers"? Have you been reading about this adorable little screamin' rantin' kookaburra ultra-right wing mini-movement that is right now hell-bent and heck-happy on hijacking the entire GOP agenda by questioning the veracity of President Obama's birth certificate?

It's true. The birthers are, apparently, a horde of fringe Republican funbots who are attempting to prove that the president was not actually born in Honolulu to mixed-race parentage back in August of '61, but instead was really spawned in some sort of bizarre test-tube experiment in a secret underground bunker in the '20s, somewhere in Islamabad and is really a handsome, radical Muslim fundamentalist robot who just so happens to enjoy mom jeans and has a wicked jump shot. Or something.

What delightful times we live in. Is it not the sweetest thing ever, the fact that this whack-job of a story is all over the news cycle and Fox News is stroking itself raw with the cheesy tabloid glory of it all, and even the most stoic, surly GOP congressman is now finding himself in the odd position of defending the president's very existence, as he fights off the rabid idiocy of his own party's nutball fringe?

1. oooh, i LOVE that!
Faux is turning into the World Net Daily of television!!
And by extension, the GOP is turning into (sic) the party of crackpots and looney-tunes!

They're throwing themselves under the bus with their lunatic ravings!

The DNC oughta send them a Thank You card!!! :applause:

3. Be careful of what you ask for
because you might get it...

hahahaha

I love how Morford points out the price the Repubs have to pay now for their courting of the "base" in order to get Bush (s)elected.

Karma comes back to kick them in the ass.

HARD
