I know Glenn Beck is a dangerous loon, but…
Are progressives and liberals following the “shiny object” at the expense of expending our limited emotional energy elsewhere?

1. Focusing on him only increases his notoriety.
That is what he thrives on. It drives his ratings and his book sales.

2. Glen Beck makes boatloads of money.
Demagogue, propagandist, willing tool, OK, looney I don't think so. He is a Limbaugh wannabee, starting to get there, is what he is.

3. Ask Kerry if he should have handled the
swiftboaters a bit differently instead of just letting them prattle on without some sort of hit-back.

4. We ignore the dangerous loons at our own peril
Beck has no business on the air and his incitement of fear is dangerous to the publics well being. Beck is not alone and all of them should be watched, the Holocaust shooter and the cop shooter were motivated by hate speech.

Germany does not ignore the loons they crush them because they know exactly what happens when one non impressive figure mates violence with violent rhetoric does to an entire society and the world. The same type of lies and fears made fearful people do deadly actions.

In Rwanda the hate speech was pushed out over the radio air-waves and a genocide occurred because of it.

It's not paranoia that I note here it's historical fact.

We are doomed to repeat the past if we don't acknowledge the same actions in the present.

6. As will happen here, sooner or later
Limpballs spews it on AFN every day, basically telling our soldiers their CINC is a traitor. This fact is beyond belief. As someone else pointed out recently, it continues because there are no consequences for their actions. if someone were to Alan Berg Beck, Limpballs, and/or Weiner, the dialogue would begin to change.

5. He's deciding who should and shouldn't work at the WH,
whether kids should be allowd to watch the president speak, and controls millions of gun-toting crazies who terrorize peaceably assembled citizens.

I don't know who, but someone did. My previous post contained facts, whether you like to accept them or not.

9. No, Beck is whining
unfortunately, some people are listening, and folks like you give Beck credit for the failings of others. Obama shouldn't have fired Joes, and he is in fact speaking to schoolchildren.

10. Obama wouldn't have fired Jones if King Glenn hadn't demanded it
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 08:41 PM by Doctor_J
There wouldn't be all of this hatred surrounding the president's address to school children if King Glenn hadn't fanned it, and the gun-toting nuts wouldn't have terrorized peaceably assembled Americans if King Glenn hadn't told them to. We might actually get together and do something about it if people like you didn't pretend that it wasn't happening.

11. He's referred to himself as a "rodeo clown" and he might have a point.
The clown distracts the bull. While we focus on his insane gibberish, perhaps Hannity and O'Reilly and so on, start to look like shining exemplars of journalistic integrity in comparison.

But I'm just spitballing off of that article. My gut tells me that he's just freak enough to let his mask slip, but he really is the paranoid soft white underbelly of decadent conservatism in its wane. Look at Michelle Bachmann and Srah Palin, and the birthers, tenthers, and so on. It might be worthwhile to drive the people who still have any sense on the right well away from that sulforous precipice.
