From Bill Maher to Obama ~ with love!
Lots of people are calling on the White House to start acting like we won especially after the resignation of Van Jones. Bill Maher joins them

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-maher/new-rule-float-like-obama_b_284151.html

FLOAT LIKE OBAMA, STING LIKE ALI

New Rule: Democrats must get in touch with their inner asshole.

I found out he ...... Van Jones got fired because he became the Scary Negro of the Week on Fox News, where, let's be honest, they still feel threatened by Harry Belafonte.

> snip .... when Black Elvis gets jiggy with his teleprompter, there is none better. But here's the thing: Muhammad Ali also had a way with words, but it helped enormously that he could also punch guys in the face.

What got Van Jones fired was they caught him on tape saying that Republicans are assholes. And they call it "news." And Obama didn't say a word in defense of Jones and basically fired him when Glenn Beck told him to. Just like we dropped "end of life counseling" from health care reform because Sarah Palin said it meant "death panels" on her Facebook page.

Crazy evil morons make up things for Obama to do, and he does it.

True, and he hasn't even heard about the latest scalp Glenn Beck got yet. But, he's so right. On how they handled the School Speech, Maher had this to say:

If the White House had any balls, they'd say, "He's giving a speech on the importance of staying in school, and if you spineless jackasses don't show it to every damn kid in your school we're cutting off your federal education funding tomorrow."

Yay! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Like Bush told schools to hand over their students' personal information. The idea was that they could be coerced into the military behind their parents' backs and before they were old enough to think straight, or they would get no federal funds. Where, oh, where were the tea-baggers and the birthers, the fundies and the Birchers with their signs and their loud, screaming voices back then?

...He was talking about how they can get things done even when they're in the minority, as opposed to the Democrats, who can't seem to get anything done even when they control both houses of Congress, the presidency, and Bruce Springsteen.

> snip ... Mr. President, there are some people who are never going to like you. That's why they voted for the old guy and Carrie's mom. You're not going to win them over. Stand up for the 70% of Americans who aren't crazy.

And speaking of that 70% -- let's call them the sentient majority -- when are we going to actually show up in all this? ....

> snip

They're at the town hall screaming at the congressman, we're on the couch screaming at the TV. Especially in this age of electronics and Snuggies, it's a statement to just leave the house. But leave the house we must, because this is our last best shot for a long time to get the sort of serious health care reform that would make the United States the envy of several African nations.

"We need an asshole".Can't think of a better way to say it.

3. Sometimes I do that, just rec
a post and don't say anything. Especially late at night! Lol. Btw, I always look for your TYT videos. Cenk should have his own show on TV. Been reading his stuff for a few years now, and he comes across greaton video.

Speaking of video, this utube video of Bill Moyers giving Obama the same advice as Bill Maher regarding the 'those crackpots on the right praying for Obama to die'. Pretty strong words on the tape, coming from Moyers who is usually more subtle.

I hope Obama is listening. The resignation of Van Jones rubbed many, many people the wrong way. The guy expressed an opinion, well a few opinions. We have bought into the rightwing smear tactics of anyone who doesn't accept the official conspiracy theory from an administration that lied about just everything, and instead of laughing at their hysteria, throw our collective 'left' hands in the air, and immediately muzzle anyone who dares to question. What country is this? The man was a perfect choice for the job he was given. He has opinions, since when does that get you fired in this country?

How many more from King Beck's list can they throw under the bus without hiring the loonies on to decide who should be in the cabinet. Last time I looked, they lost. And if this is winning, it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Bill Maher, Bill Moyers, Frank Rich to name a few, and tens of thousands maybe millions of those who voted for him want him to start taking names and letting them know who is in charge. Before it's too late.

I don't know whose advice he's taking, but when Bill Moyers gives this kind of advice, and gets this upset, I think he better get rid of whoever it is in the WH that allowed these nuts to grab the microphone for the entire summer.

7. I know, it just seemed like this thread was the equivalent of a middle school dance.
You know people want to participate, but no one wants to be the first one out on the floor.

:)

And yes, while Maher is an easy target because he's often polarizing, it's a fact that well respected, uncontroversial figures like Moyers have made pretty much the same points.

8. Lol, I hadn't thought of it that way
So, you were the one who in middle-school who got the party started? :-)

Yes, Maher can be a controversial but he was just one more and I got the impression from the last paragraph, that he was serious. I think what is getting to people is what an opportunity this was. If Obama had focused on the Democrats instead of the Republicans, the Party has ways of getting them to go along. Such as letting them know they will not get support from the President or the Party in their next election. Taking away Committee chairs etc.

If the accepted way of doing business in DC is to bribe members of Congress, then the party leadership has to use the weapons that are available. To say 'we can't do that, it's not nice' is ridiculous considering the current climate there. I thought that was why Rahm was hired, because he supposedly knows how to twist arms. So far, the only arms I've seen him twist were the liberal groups. Until they stopped harassing those poor Blue Dogs. NOT the change we were looking forward to.
