Health care and the young "right now" generation
Hey, young world: the impact of health care reform on generation right now

Middle to late age senior men and women discuss and politicize their individual, group or union’s point of view...

...According to a study by the Urban Institute in 2008, young adults (ages 19-26) constitute to just 18 percent of the adult population. These would seem to be a minute number until the study also notes that these same young adults make up 28 percent of the uninsured adult population...

For many within this generation, health care would offer the promise of individual policies that are inexpensive compared to today’s standard. For the state of health care itself, it is critical for the younger generation to buy into any package because of the financial need of them paying for it in the long run...

1. Great post and very good point
One thing I find frustrating, especially when I encounter it on liberal enclaves like this is the labeling of young uninsured people as "selfish irresponsible deadbeats" who really have plenty of money but are withholding it from the insurance system so they can spend it on frivolous items. Nothing could be further from the truth. The majority of people who lack insurance, including the young healthy ones, would get it if it were affordable and it and it provided decent coverage. Most individual policies on the market today are neither and believe me, I know because I've sold health insurance in the past.
