Forum editorial: Being rude no way to treat guest (Karl Rove)
Forum editorial: Being rude no way to treat guest

The new executive director of North Dakota’s Democratic-NPL Party can’t have it both ways. On one hand, Joe Aronson has had a grand ol’ time beating up on high-profile Republican office-holders for even considering introducing controversial former White House adviser Karl Rove at Minot’s Norsk Hostfest. On the other hand, the new-to-the-job executive has been ever-so-careful about criticizing the folks at Hostfest’s Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame for tapping Rove as an inductee. Rove will be at Hostfest on Wednesday to be inducted into the hall.

Aronson – apparently with the blessing of Dem-NPL officials – has stretched credibility to the breaking point in order to define Rove as a bad guy at an introduction but a good guy as an inductee. Is it the Democrats’ view that former President George W. Bush’s friend and confidant should change his black hat for a white hat once the introduction by North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is done? Or could it be it is less risky and politically smarter to poke the AG rather than criticize the hall’s selection committee?

>SNIP<

It might also be wise for Aronson and his employers to read election results. Bush won North Dakota handily in 2004, and Rove was part of the president’s team. His work for the president, both as White House adviser and political operative, was no secret among North Dakota voters. The allegations of illegal conduct leveled against Rove had been aired, but even to this day remain only allegations.

Rove is an invited guest. He’s coming to the state for an ethnic heritage honor, not for a political rally. North Dakotans generally are polite and courteous, even to those with whom they disagree politically. They have an obligation to treat the former White House adviser in a civil manner, which includes an introduction by an elected state officeholder.

The Democratic-NPL’s bloviating about Rove’s visit is rude. It’s inappropriate. The party spokesman, who apparently doesn’t have enough real work to do, should back off – maybe even apologize.

What does it take for some people to realize the high and low crimes, treason and serious damage the bu$h administration has done? In this case the wholesale election frauds across, of Karl Rove that allowed their war crimes in the first place?

There is a Comments section for posting a list of his crimes, if you feel so inclined. You have to register first though.

1. Rove's blatant political meddling in the Dept. of Justice is
"just an allegation" because the current administration hasn't gotten around to taking a closer look. I sincerely hope they start turning the lights back on soon.

3. That would turn him into a martyr.

A long prison term with Buba as a cell mate would be more just treatment.
Charging Karl Rove with aiding and abetting terrorism and sending him to Git'mo would work also.

it is exhibited during a joint session of Congress.:sarcasm:
