Curious line in AP story about Heene family, and 'news' outlet...
I realize we're all sick to death of "Balloon Boy" comments,
but a line from the story in the Philly Inquirer caught my eye...

A 'news/entertainment' outlet might be in on the hoax.

Now... what media outlet always wants to be on the cutting edge
of 'breaking news,' to the degree of major distraction?

I keep waiting for more information on this investigation...
but perhaps I'm just cynical about 'news/entertainment' outlets..

"The boy's parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, who met in acting school in Hollywood and have appeared on the ABC reality show Wife Swap, will likely face felony charges, Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said.He also said investigators were examining the possibility of other conspirators.
Documents show that a media outlet - a show that blurs "the line between entertainment and news" - had agreed to pay money to the Heenes, Alderden said.
He didn't name the outlet and it wasn't clear whether the deal was signed before or after the alleged hoax, or whether that media outlet was seen as a possible conspirator.

"Let's call it short of speculation that a media outlet was in on the hoax, but let's not discount the possibility..."

1. don't know if CNN was in on it but they sure ran with it

and for a long while left viewers thinking the balloon was bigger then it really was.

2. They remind of the line in the movie, "To Die For":
You're nobody unless you've been on T.V.

I think it's what drives both the father and the mother to the point of unreality.

3. The way Ed Schultz was defending his coverage makes me wonder if MSNBC was in on it.
