"The Cowardice and Calumny of Creationism" by Michael Shermer
"...ID creationists have no science, no theory, and no research program. The only thing they can do is attack evolutionary theory and hope people don't notice that they are employing the fallacy of false alternatives: If A is wrong then B must be right. If evolutionary theory is wrong then intelligent design must be right. Wrong. In order to displace a prevailing theory or paradigm in science it is not enough to merely point out what it cannot explain; you have to offer a new theory that explains more data, and do so in a testable way. In their public debates IDers never define intelligence or design, and if they can help it they never tell anyone who they think the designer is, even though everyone in the room already knows that they think it is Yahweh, the God of Abraham."

1. Yahweh was just one of the gods of Abraham
Which has always puzzled me, since traditions which trace their 'beliefs' back to him, are always going on about One God (well, the Three-in-one ONE God).

But these traditions never seem to notice that their own Bible talks about Yahweh as one of the Elohim. There is a whole freaking Pantheon of Elohim, and good old Yahweh is just one of them...What's up with that?

3. Trying to make sense out of myths about imaginary deities is a waste of time.
You'd be better off debating the true meaning of Lost or the religious philosophy of the Cylons. At least those things are presented as fiction in the first place.

2. So Yahweh is the newest god?
There are hundreds of gods. These are just the roman gods at this link:

http://www.unrv.com/culture/major-roman-god-list.php

Apollo, Ceres, Jupiter, etc.

Google "list of gods"..there are hundreds of gods to choose. I wonder how the creationists explain them all. Are they brothers and sisters to this Yahweh clown?

4. Yahweh had a better PR campaign...and an army.
You know, have a tribe of wandering nomads invade and kill as many of the locals as you could, and then claim your god commanded it.

Mess with Yahweh and die.

6. For the creationists, research means
looking at other creationist web sites to see what they say before writing anything. Sometimes, you can just copy and paste what the other sites say, which saves time.

That's what they mean by research.

7. Too true
...And, I have always wondered, if Adam & Eve were the first man and woman, and they had just two kiddos: Cain & Abel. Who in the Blue Blazes did Cain & Abel marry?

Was there some kind of Republicon Family Values incesty thing going on? What's up wit dat?
