Why the FCC Should Stop Comcast from Buying NBC (PC World)

Comcast's proposed $30 billion purchase of NBC Universal is a bad deal for consumers, as well as for net neutrality.

If approved, the purchase will create yet another instance where a company that delivers digital content will have a profit motive to discriminate against other content providers.

The FCC should stop this deal, partially because it furthers media consolidation into too few hands, but also because it flies against the prevailing wind of net neutrality, as envisioned by FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.

Taken to an extreme, why should Comcast/NBC carry any non-NBC programming on its cable systems that doesn't have to?

1. Look on the bright side maybe they will drop Fox News. I agree
it should be stopped though, one company controlling the Internet, cable and a good portion of TV broadcasting.

2. Some clown suggested that Comcast wouldn't abuse this because AOL/Time Warner didn't
I do like the fact that the last attempt at this failed, but the real solution is to stop this deal in the first place.

how Comcast places MSNBC in its premium package whilst keeping Faux on the basic service.
If Comcast should out right OWN MSNBC. MSNBC would most likely be either pulled from sources like Youtube or eliminated altogether.

FAUX however would still be cheap propaganda.

on edit/ I am against NBC's purchase.
