play into their hand, suckers - In Delaying Health Care GOP Wants To Force August Repeat Over Holida
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 08:41 PM by seeinfweggos
"It's not just stalling for fun and games - Republicans blocking health care from moving forward using Senate procedure think if they can force Democrats to go home for the holidays without a vote, they might just kill the bill."

1. If they would have had a GOOD bill, it would be a different story
By having a bad bill they are essentially playing into the gop's hands, "suckers"

A good bill voted down by republicans would only hurt the republicans. A bad bill voted down by republicans, but voted for by Democrats would be a disaster

1. No Single Payer

2. No public option

3. No expanded Medicare coverage

4. No drug re-importation

5. No cost controls

6. No renegotiation of drug prices

7. Capped annual coverage for care

8. Individual mandated coverage

9. Anti-trust exemption for insurance companies

10. A tax on middle class insurance plans

11. Taxes that start up in January, but benefits that don’t start until 2014

2. Lighting never strikes twice
They have been trying to recreate the magic of August now since September. They tried over Thanksgiving holiday and it was a flop.

4. Nothing Left to Fight For
Everything that was used to sell this bill to liberals has been taken out.

Good things taken out:
Public option.
Medicare buy-in
No limits coverage.
Pre-existing conditions covered, but at a much higher rate.
Reimportation of drugs from Canada

Bad things that are still in:
mandated coverage.
tax on private health plans.

5. Oh no! Please don't let them kill the bill they already destroyed!
If the Republicans were really astute, they would be praying for this grotesque perversion, this crippled liability of a bill to get passed. Then they could say, "See? Health care reform was a bad idea. This bill has not helped you one bit, and it's costing you hard-earned money. That's what happens when big government democrats get their way."

Of course, "big government" Democrats didn't get their way when this bill was written. Republicans, DINOs, lobbyists and corporations did.

In fact, this bill was never really written; It started as a set of unwritten principles that was systematically whittled away, bargained away, frittered away, compromised and chipped away until it was just a worthless pile of horseshit. Then the president's press secretary chastised Dr. Dean for withdrawing his support for this insupportable mess.

8. Well, it is clear to many now that this is a bad bill. They might as well take credit for
killing what they and their Conservative Dem counterparts crafted.
