The best thing about his writing is that he presents such dense information and opinion in such a lucid manner. He's a fine wordsmith.

Where are the next generations to carry on where people like Chomsky and Gore Vidal have gone?
There are some voices emerging, like KO and Rachael. KO is a very smart guy, but I wouldn't call him an intellectual. Rachael may eventually be regarded in that light.
Another who might eventually be considered in that realm is Al Franken. Of course he doesn't come from the same place as people like William Buckley and the stereotypical intellectuals. But his intellectual capacity is equal to any of them, as are his force of will and his ability to communicate. And doggone it, people just like him. (Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.)
