Slow Start for Military Corps in Afghanistan
The military’s effort to build a seasoned corps of expert officers for the Afghan war, one of the highest priorities of top commanders, is off to a slow start, with too few volunteers and a high-level warning to the armed services to steer better candidates into the program, according to some senior officers and participants.

1. Afghans have fought several empires to a standstill. Maybe they don't think their military is...
serving their interests, so people join just for the paycheck or to collect weapons to turn on us.

2. They are talking about US officers refusing to make a career out of Afghanistan.
Or something like that.
