NADER ON DORGAN RETIREMENT: The Last of the Prairie Populists
His analysis sounds sadly accurate, and we should do what we can to convince Dorgan to change his mind.

The bottom line is Nader think Dorgan has come to the same conclusion as many progressives: the Democrats, with their commanding majorities, are doing too little for the average Americans and too much for the corporate crooks.

As one who has known Senator Dorgan for years, I suspect there was another reason in the mix. He wants to get changes made, which he believes are supported by most Americans. He has waited a long time for the Democrats to take control of the Congress and the White House. That has happened and little has changed.

Late last year, during the Senate debate on health insurance, Dorgan proposed and eloquently explained an amendment to reduce drug prices -- the highest in the world -- by allowing so-call drug reimportation from countries such as Canada under regulatory safeguards.

He expected Obama's active support since Mr. Obama promised to press for this needed competition in his presidential campaign. He figured wrong. The White House used none of its capital to get the few extra votes needed. For Mr. Obama had already cut a deal privately with the drug company chieftains.

That may have been the last straw for Senator Dorgan. He is not the only progressive Democrat in the Congress who is saying, "What does President Obama really stand for?"

4. How about
Fuck Kent Conrad. Fuck Max Baucus. Fuck Tom D-ASSHOLE. And fuck every other piece of shit false "Democrat" in the Mountain and Central time zones. Dorgan was one of the few actual DEMOCRATS left in the region. Odds are he'll be replaced by another weak piece of shit.

18. this isn't about "right or wrong"
a stopped watch is right twice a day. What does that have to do with being irrelevant. If you like the guy...bully for you. I think his actions are despicable and self serving. He is irrelevant in this political arena.

2. This is way more about Obama's betrayal of Dorgan & the American people

With his backroom 'negotiation' with big pharm...

Dorgan was a allie of Obama. He stabbed him in the back with this slime ball backroom deal that benefits the mafiaoso drug industry and enslaves the American people to paying beyond extortion prices for medication.

Nader is just pointing it out.

You might try reading the content of the post.

K and R

(I'm not endorsing 3rd party, but Nader's right, and Obama is wrong, on this issue.)

13. sadly, Obama's biggest accomplishment may be doing for the DLC what Bush did for conservatives
by too obviously catering to the corporate masters, Obama will put stink on DLCers for decades to come, and rebranding themselves ''New Democrats'' or some other new nonsense won't help.

10. Nader could mend some fences if HE ran for Dodd's or some other seat
He knows how the system works, and would be another Bernie Sanders.
