Last week I http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x509315">noted that a combination of factors, which include important upgrades to DU over the coming weeks and months, as well as some very time-consuming stuff going on in my personal life (nothing bad - just time-consuming), were likely to prevent me from writing the Top 10 for a while. I'm sorry to announce that the hiatus starts now.

I want to thank everyone who expressed well-wishes to my son last week (he's doing much better now) and to everyone who basically told me to STFU with the apologizing and take care of my family. I really appreciate it.

I can't say for sure when the Top 10 will be back, but I will say that you haven't heard the last of me. And by the way, when I do get back, I would prefer not to have to write about the teabagging antics of Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) *gag* so do me a favor and please http://www.marthacoakley.com/volunteer">get out the vote for Martha Coakley this Tuesday.

Utah State Senator Sheldon Killpack was arrested on suspicion of DUI this week in Utah. He failed the field sobriety tests and refused the breathalyzer.

Killpack is known as the author of several DUI-related bills in Utah to increase enforcement and punishment for those caught on DUI. When Killpack was a teenager his father was killed by a drunk driver.

It shouldn't surprise anyone, but Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is back on the crazy train. The same conservative who seemingly won't miss a tea party for the world, and is known for opposing the census (and encouraging her constituents to do the same), is at her wacky best this week. She has recently accused President Obama of being "in bed with the terrorists" - not all that different from the previous accusations from her seemingly separated-at-birth friend Palin's famous statement of "palling around with terrorists" back in 2008.

As a bonus of sweet irony, it has been suggested that if her constituents were to skip the census as she suggested, she could lose her own seat.

I really miss this feature. It has always been one of the reading highlights of my week all these years, and I was just wondering, is there anyone who could fill in temporarily? Now it is seriously incorrect.  Sorry to be so curmudgeonish about it -- it's just that on the one hand, we've been had by those we worked so hard to put into office.  And on the other hand, it's not just conservatives that are idiots.  It's also us, to whatever degree we roll over regarding:

• the wars
• the bank bailouts
• the still-open Gitmo
• the health reform fiasco
• the lack of leadership from SML Reid
• the GODDAMN DEMOCRATS WHO COULD MAKE THE GODDAMN REPUBLICANS ACTUALLY GODDAMN FILLIBUSTER by a 51-vote rule change to make the fillibuster a REAL GODDAMN fillibuster.

So this - the splash page - is small potatoes. But damn, I've had better centuries.
