Wow! Terrified LTTE spells out total doom for America due to HCR.
Legislation will burden us with debt
(Columbus Dispatch, April 8, 2010)

What a tragedy that President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, both Democrats, have coerced and intimidated our legislators into passing the health-care-overhaul bill, which is nothing more than a sinking ship.

This action will result in incomprehensible debt for our country, from which we cannot recover. For many years, the method of operation for the Democratic Party has been to make our citizens become more and more dependent upon the government. The Democratic goal is to establish single-payer health insurance.

No doubt, premiums for those of us who have health insurance will skyrocket, because health-insurance companies will be in fear for their very lives. Within a short time, government health insurance will be established, offering "bargain rates" with "bargain" care. Health-insurance companies will be destroyed and their employees will be laid off until our private insurance industry is ruined. Unemployment will become worse than ever.

People's options for health insurance will become more and more limited, and our freedom of choice will erode to nothing.

The law soon will make it harder for people to get medical care, and services will start to be rationed. Imagine having to wait longer than ever to get certain necessary treatments, for which timeliness means everything.

The Democrats don't want us to stand on our own two feet. They want Americans to have no hope other than their hope in the great all-knowing government that cares for us and tells us what is best for us. The Democrats want us to look to government to solve all of our problems.

We should hold firm and stand up for our rights and privileges as Americans before we lose all of them.

BRENDA S. HILL
Reynoldsburg

So, to summarize, Ms. Hill (or is it Mr. Beck?) believes that as a result of health care reform:
  • The country will be driven into "incomprehensible" debt from which it cannot recover.
  • Premiums for people who have health insurance will skyrocket.
  • Health insurance companies will be destroyed.
  • Insurance workers will all lose their jobs.
  • The entire private insurance industry will be ruined.
  • Unemployment will worsen.
  • People will have increasingly limited health-insurance options.
  • Americans' "freedom of choice" will be completely taken away.
  • It will be harder for people to get medical care.
  • Medical services will be rationed.
  • Necessary treatment will require longer and longer waiting time.
  • We will lose all of our rights and privileges as Americans.
That's quite a list!

I would like to see the paper re-publish this letter each year on April 8, so we can check on how many of Ms. Hill's predictions come true as the years go by.

1. The Democratic Party took a RepubliCON party health care bill and passed it.
If the RepubliCONS want to condemn it, let them it's theirs anyhow. It wont help most Americans anyway.

I just can't wait until those death panels start. I have a few names I want to put in. Grandma IS shovel ready.

4. RW talking points.
What is the logic here: No doubt, premiums for those of us who have health insurance will skyrocket, because health-insurance companies will be in fear for their very lives?

If health insurance companies are in fear for their very lives (???), why would the radically raise their rates?

What is the basis for this remark: The Democrats don't want us to stand on our own two feet? Thrown out by Beck and/or Limbaugh?

These people have to think for themselves a little bit.

5. You should read the letters from my home town paper

http://www.bakersfield.com/opinion (halfway down the page)

The ignorance conservatives like to air in public in my town is astonishing. And it happens on a daily basis.

8. Our local wingnut
also wrote in about the impending doom we face with HCR.
But really, the impending doom is what these people live with everyday of their lives.
Impending doom of airport security, bicycle accidents, pacifism, gay rights, gun control...whatever the topic. It is all impending doom, and they are very afraid.
They haven't changed since preschool.

10. Obviously
the only solution to this dilemma is to overturn the law, close all the hospitals and let everybody die.

all these morons think they're psychic. Never do I hear any thugs say "I think" or "I fear". It's always "It WILL happen!" I THINK they're all psycho.

13. so, she's saying that while the rest of the world can manage to have good healthcare for less money
through a variety of models of a universal system, somehow we in America are too stupid to do the same or better? I take offense at that!

Also, I'd love to hear her explain how (a) we really have any realistic options NOW, (b) how we won't be able to get Medicare because we're all on a Universal system. That last one seems a bit self-contradictory, does it not?

And once we get to a point where people spend less on health care (again, like the REST OF THE WORLD MANAGES TO DO), that will lead to massive economic problems because... um... yeah.

It's getting harder and harder every day for me to even pretend to respect the opinions of Republicans, and it wasn't that easy in the first place!
