The anti-semitism warning in Kunstler's latest is something new. |
|
In the Kunstler piece posted here in this forum, is this:
"Animosities brewing as they are among the white trash elements of the country, I just hope this sucker doesn't resolve into an ugly bout of attempted ethnic cleansing. Certainly Obama's racial make-up has inspired a revival of the Ku Klux spirit around the Nascar ovals. I'm sincerely worried that the misdeeds of people name Blankfein, Rubin, and Madoff could provoke a red-white-and-blue pogrom."
Holy hell. Is it possible that the teabaggers are moving in that direction? That the backlash against the bankers could be manipulated into hatred for Jews?
Is this being discussed anywhere in the national conversation?

1. We've been seeing that for years |
|
There's always an undercurrent of anti-semitism (and racism) in our society. Every now and then it crops up here on DU too. There are a lot of people who use the word "bankster" as a code word for "Jew". Not everybody. But quite a few.

I personally know two different people named Kunstler. Who is saying this, where, and in what context? Strikes me those are all important factors. Whomever he is, his words are almost as bigoted as the stuff he is talking about, and made without basis just as the stuff he is talking about. The whole statement is assumptions based on the author's own prejudices. Anyone who declares the people in a place one has never been to be Klansmen, based on the sport they enjoy, is being prejudiced. The mystery author might be 'sincerely worried' about things, but he gives no reason why, other than, again, his own mindset toward other groups of people. He's saying he can tell they are racists because they like Nascar, that they are Klan types for fast cars. He is a frightening as the tea party Republicans.
