Chefs Baffled By Laura Bush's "Poisoning" Claims
Steffen Duckhorn still remembers well the day Laura Bush thought she might die. He was feeling a bit worked up because he had heard that President George W. Bush, who was attending the G-8 summit in June 2007 in Heiligendamm, Germany, wasn't feeling well. Duckhorn had cooked for the president, and Bush was now complaining he had a stomach ache.

"We immediately contacted the German Federal Office of Criminal Investigation to find out if there was anything to it," Duckhorn told SPIEGEL. "There was nothing." During the summit, he said, toxicologists had been constantly present in the kitchen of the five-star hotel collecting samples in test tubes of every bit of food which had been prepared. "Before the meal, during the meal and after the meal," he said.

Almost three years later, Bush's stomach ache has somehow been recast as a possible murder attempt against close to a dozen US delegation members. In her memoir, which will land in bookstores this week, Laura Bush writes of a possible poisoning.

1. Well, you know, he was a heroic fighter pilot in Viet Nam
And he liberated Nazi death camps. No, wait, that was another worthless, delusional Republican pile-of-shit president.

3. Right. And Laura Bush is a MD and renowned diagnostician.
If they're breathing, they're lying.

2. Bush was probably drunk.
I'm sure there were many times when he was "under the weather" and she had to cover.

17. He needs a cover story to explain why he was acting like an undisciplined toddler
when he raced up behind Angela Merkel and started mushing around on her shoulders claiming to be bestowing her with a massage.

Crude, idiotic, embarrassing, "not presidential" and ugly!

Of course, who could fault him once learning the poor, dear man had been poisoned?

Being the victim of poisoning, after all, got his friend Victor Yuschenko elected!

4. Pickles Bush (like the rest of the crime family) is a sociopathic serial liar
Not at all surprised to find out this story was total bullshit. Not to mention the pictures of a clearly drunk Chimpy that were circulating at the time. Any "illness" suffered by the Primate in Chief was clearly one of his own doing.

5. Which phrase sells more books? "contracted a virus" or "may have been poisoned"?
<snip>
She writes that the most concrete conclusion any doctors could reach is that "we contracted a virus that attacks a nerve near the inner ear and is prevalent in Heiligendamm."

Or would it be more profitable to find a doctor from a nearby clinic state speculations that 'disputes' the what the doctors on the scene says?

9. It seems the only accomplishment she made with her book was to
discredit herself. The "I wonder if we were poisoned on purpose" with no substantial support for the possibility
seems irresponsible at best.

Was not her intention in the book to preach civility and to stop the use of inflammatory speech??

I think less of her now than I did when she was First Lady.

10. The timing of the claim is what puzzles me
I mean, had Stepford claimed that she and Dubya were poisoned early in the Administration, I could interpret it as a way to suggest lasting brain damage, which, for eight years, Bush gave every indication of suffering from!

13. who really wrote this book?
It so does not sound like Laura Bush. I'm thinking Bush hired someone to write this stuff and he has something on Laura that allowed him to put her name and face on it.

14. Mountain out of a mole hill. Republicans are good at that.
But cheney shoots a guy in the face, which had to be deliberate and it is fluffed off as an accident. He was probably so damn drunk he didn't know his own name.
