President Barack Obama's comedic timing trumps Jay Leno's at White House Correspondents Dinner

Jay Leno has more to worry about than Letterman. The “Tonight” host was the headliner at Saturday’s White House Correspondents Dinner. But it was the opening act -- a local comic named Barack Obama -- who killed.

“His timing was impeccable,” Scarlett Johansson said of the Commander-of-Schtick.

“Knocked Up” director Judd Apatow said speechwriter Jon Lovett gave his boss some knockout material about birthers, Biden and McCain. But it was all in the delivery.

“I’m sure they gave the President twice as many jokes,” Apatow told us. “I think a lot of the success had to to with the ones the President chose. His taste is impeccable He also let himself be funny. Most of the time the job demands that he hold back.”

1. I didn't get to see the Presidient speak, but saw Leno.
Personally, I found him to be very unfunny, and a couple of times I found what he said to be offensive. I'd have to watch it again to be able to say specifically, but yeah, Leno was not funny.

Instant classic there.

6. Whoops, just went to Utube and I see the singing
presidents had already been done with Bush singing lead. No originality there, i guess.

5. Obama will be signing contracts for his new comedy show, due out...
after he finishes his two terms.

He was funnnnnnnny! Leno was a bomb. He didn't even act like he wanted the job. But then, I've never been a Leno fan, so I might be prejudiced. That's OK, isn't it?

7. I'd rather see demonstrations of the Administration's serious undertaking
and interventions with the major issues still facing us. All this laughter and smiling etc while so many of us are suffering is beginning to wear. How about taking on the corporations instead of making jokes?

8. I'm Looking At A Tape Dispenser On My Desk......
.....that has better comic timing than Jay Leno had at last night's Correspondents' Dinner. A genuine embarrassment.

11. What makes Obama great is that little laugh he does after
making a comment or statement, he pauses then does that chuckle gets me every time! too funny.
