1. Why would WAPO have this article Six months prior to elections?
Isn't that a bit tacky?

Will we have a majority after the November vote?

I thought counting chickens was Reid's opponent in Nevada's schtick!

11. Because Dick Durbin would piss off too many Wall Street jillionaires

2. Oh, why?
I'd be happy to hear from those who believe I should be happy at this thought.

Reid ain't dead yet, I thought.

3. I hope he can get the nuclear option tactic going - threaten the Thugs
make good on the threats too.

Reid is too spineless to do anything. Even if he survives his re-election campaign, he's done for as Majority Leader.

4. That would a very bad decision.
Russ Feingold for one would be a far better choice than Schumer who rarely even has time for his constituents. I never once received even an automated response from his office. I met him person while he was still a Congressman (through my job where I met many members of Congress) and he was probably one of two Dems I did not like as a person.

13. That has been my experience too
I've never received any automated responses to my emails either. That tells me that his staff isn't very well supervised. Every other public official I've ever emailed has at least sent an automated response. One time I called his office about a matter and mentioned that and the guy taking my call at least seemed embarrassed about it.

9. Great, an anti-gun extremist leading the Senate.
He'll introduce more gun-law bills so Democrats will get voted out in 2012? No thanks.

12. Schumer, snake in the grass..
He made himself very wealthy helping Wall Street with deregulations according to the New York Times. A real "Fox in the Hen house" situation if he becomes Majority leader. However, Reid isn't gone yet, and worse comes to worse, Sen. Durbin being from Illinois, is closer to Obama.
