WH Press Secretary Gibbs blasts Liberals...

During an interview with The Hill in his West Wing office, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs blasted liberal naysayers, whom he said would never regard anything the president did as good enough.

“I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs said. “I mean, it’s crazy.”

The press secretary dismissed the “professional left” in terms very similar to those used by their opponents on the ideological right, saying, “They will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon. That’s not reality.

If Gibbs is speaking officially, as I'm sure he is, being interviewed by The Hill, then I would say to the President this is the kind of anger we should see directed at the Republicans who are doing everything they can to see that you fail - in fixing their disaster - so they can succeed the more in November. Mr. President, you would do much better listening to your party (the Democrats) than always trying to ingratiate yourself with those who are trying to cut your throat.

If you took on the REpublicans more you would find many of those apathetic Democrats cheeering you and marching in the streets against the Corporate Lobbyists Party.

So in summary, Mr. Gibbs, Fuck You.

2. No one wants to distance themselves from liberals more than the Democratic Party...
This was a slow-ball pitch, made to give Gibbs yet another opportunity to publicly distance the Democratic Party from anything to the left of D. D. Eisenhower. Note this statement:

“I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs said. “I mean, it’s crazy.”

This is a culture cue worked to perfection by the GOP. Leaders of the Republicans know better than Democrats themselves that the cultural hatred by the extreme right (GOP) of "liberalism/progressivism" stems from the counter-culture of the 60s, and the enduring symbolism of that hated counter culture is illegal drugs; specifically marijuana. All one has to do to get the well-worn Pavlovian response is mention "liberals/progressives" in the same breath as drug use. Gibbs has learned well.
