The Phenomenology of Ugly For what its worth.......
I thought this interesting as I recently read an article about employers now adding good looks to their hiring practices. Of course once we reach middle age it is an uphill fight anyway, unless you can afford a new appearance. Then those people probably do not need jobs.

You think you’re beautiful? Socrates seems to say. Well, think again! The idea of beauty, in this world, is like a mistake. An error of thought. Which should be re-thought.

Perhaps Socrates’s mission is to make the world safe for ugly people. Isn’t everyone a little ugly, one way or the other, at one time or another? Who is truly beautiful, all the time? Only the archetypes can be truly beautiful.

1. I always check the cover of "The National Enquirer"
when I'm standing in line at the grocery store. Yesterday, It had a pic of Sandra Bullock. She looked terrible, in comparison to how she usually looks on TV and in glamour magazines. "The Enquirer" always puts the most unflattering pics of celebrities on their cover. I think it wants to show its readers that, in reality, celebs are no more or less attractive than everyday people, that the people who are culture worships aren't really gods.
