Pres. Obama signs bill to save 300,000 jobs. Boehner calls it a "bailout for special interests"
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 01:21 PM by JohnWxy

With economic growth faltering and unemployment stuck at 9.5 percent, some economists are urging additional action. But senior Democrats and administration officials said the package of state aid is likely to be the last major effort at economic stimulus -- at least until after November congressional elections, for which the soaring national debt has become a major issue.

The President Obama at a Rose Garden news conference said; "We can't stand by and do nothing while pink slips are given to the men and women who educate our children and keep our communities safe,"

John Boehner called it a: “bailout” and a gift for special interests"

Teachers, Firemen, Policeman.... these are the people Boehner calls "special interests". I remember Boehner at a meeting with Wall Street Banksters railed against Banking regulation reform (i.e. returning to regulation of Wall Street Banksters)

..... he said: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/18/summers-hits-boehner-defe_n_504086.html">"Don't let those little punk staffers take advantage of you and stand up for yourselves."

Meanwhile the Republicans have offered a tax cut to the wealthiest 2% of the population costing $7 Trillion :

GOP Tax Cut Bill Would Add Almost $7 Trillion to America's National Debt To Further Enrich the Wealthiest - Citizens for Tax Justice

August 3, 2010 On April 15, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) introduced (H.R. 5029) “The Economic Freedom Act,” with the blessing of the House Republican Study Committee. This report finds that H.R. 5029 would add almost $7 trillion to the national debt over the next ten years, not counting other legislation to make all of the Bush tax cuts permanent (which the sponsors also support). By the second year it's in effect, about 62 percent of the benefits would go to the richest 1 percent of taxpayers, and about three fourths would go to the richest 5 percent.

2. 300,000
jobs saved is not really accurate. If those 300,000 jobs were cut that would be 300,000 families going on unemployment, who would stop paying their bills and mortgages, would stop eating at restaurants and shopping for goods which would lead to more than 300,000 jobs lost, less money collected in taxes, and home prices plummeting as foreclosures rose. It stops a deflationary spiral from spinning out of control. Just because one might not be a teacher or firefighter whose saved job is deemed by Boehner to be a 'special interest' it is in all of our interest to keep as many people as we can employed. Because if we allow the economy to deflate further the next job cut could be yours. F all those POS republicans and libertarians that are trying to push the country further in the hole.

3. I urge you to take your rational explanation of the point of jobs bills to media sites
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 01:53 PM by JohnWxy
such as USA Today.com, NIghtline of FB, etc. It might help if there were a few more comments to articles and posts from rational, thinking people. Who knows it might make a difference.

on edit: NOT THAT I DON'T ENJOY SEEING THEM HERE. I just mean we should try to get some of this sensible thinking to a more general audience. You might make a difference! ___JW
