Obama Advisers Weigh Ad Assault Against the G.O.P.
Edited on Sun Sep-19-10 09:45 PM by elleng
— President Obama’s political advisers, looking for ways to help Democrats and alter the course of the midterm elections in the final weeks, are considering a national advertising campaign that would cast the Republican Party as all but taken over by Tea Party extremists, people involved in the discussion said.

That is among a range of options and plans under consideration. . .

But Democrats are divided. The party’s House and Senate campaign committees are resistant, not wanting to do anything that smacks of nationalizing the midterm elections when high unemployment and the drop in Mr. Obama’s popularity have made the climate so hostile to Democrats. Endangered Congressional candidates want any available money to go to their localized campaigns.

10. The congressional strategists are idiots. The White House wants to do it. Gawd, I hope they do it.
They certainly have plenty of ammo.

6. Why Not Assault a REAL Problem: The Economy of the 99%?
Edited on Sun Sep-19-10 10:11 PM by Demeter
Because real-life problems are messy...and unprofitable. And keep little people alive and healthy...and it's too much like work. The Overlords don't like it.

There must be at least 50 ways to leave your base, sorry, Paul Simon.

We are going to witness the sorry spectacle of a sitting President leaving his Party and his base hanging, while he does what? Massages Israeli ego? Pretends to be in charge? Feigns interest in the economy?

9. Oh, FFS, please ignore the House & Senate campaign committees if you have to and run some kick ass
ads about how crazy the current batch of Republicans are and how they are planning to shut down the government.

I can't believe the idiots in the Congressional Campaign Committees actually think just focusing on their individual districts (localizing them) will actually cut it. You need to do both. Shift the national narrative and also try to work the local angle. In most places, it is nationalized whether they like it or not.

12. FDR and Harry Truman, not to mention Jack Kennedy
are rolling in their graves at the lack of spine from our Democratic 'strategists'. No matter what the circumstances, they always find a way to wuss out. God help us!:puke:
