As Election Day 2010 approaches –
as the United States wallows in the swamps of war, recession and environmental degradation – the consequences of the nation’s three-decade-old decoupling from reality are becoming painfully obvious.

Yet, despite the danger, the nation can’t seem to move in a positive direction, as if the suctioning effect of endless spin, half-truths and lies holds the populace in place, a force that grows ever more powerful like quicksand sucking the country deeper into the muck – to waist deep, then neck deep.

Trapped in the mud, millions of Americans are complaining about their loss of economic status, their sense of powerlessness, their nation’s decline. But instead of examining how the country stumbled into this morass, many still choose not to face reality.

1. Reality exist on everything BUT the news
Look at all the stupid is stupid does reality shows on virtually every television network. Yet you can't find anything factual in any of the news casts.

4. responsibility is a word often thrown around but the fact of the matter is
that people don't want to take responsibility for their situation. they want there to be some reason that they have lost their job or their house or whatever that makes it through no fault of their own. and there are plenty of folks who have lost their job and it wasn't their fault. but overall who is to blame for our economic situation overall? if we were to take a good long look in the mirror we might see that our gluttony and overindulgence in big houses and big cars and big everything might be the cause.... our need for more and more and never being satisfied. but the fact is that we refuse to educate ourselves and we refuse to make our representatives accountable for their promises and their actions. in other countries we watch as the public riots in the streets and their government is afraid of them. but here.... here we cower and let ourselves be distracted by things that make no difference to our situation... things like community centers and gay marriage. things which will not fix our economy or make us any safer.
