SPTIMES: Tea party may run its course into ditch
Edited on Sat Sep-25-10 06:51 PM by AmBlue
I didn't see this posted previously, but even if it was it's a beautiful read worth seeing a second time. Let's all pray the Mr. Ruth is one of the sage prophets of our time.

Tea party may run its course into ditch

By Daniel Ruth, Times correspondent
In Print: Friday, September 24, 2010

There's a scene toward the end of the great movie Lawrence of Arabia when the Bedouin warriors seize Damascus, their long yearned for and hard-fought prize at last within their grasp.

Alas, chaos soon grips the occupiers. Fires break out over the city and the new, bickering rulers of Damascus find themselves impotent. They know nothing about electrical grids, or how to operate the water system, or how to govern. Meanwhile the British Army sits on the sidelines — and waits.

In short order the frustrated Bedouins, completely bumfuzzled over the complexities of modernity, return to what they know best — the desert, leaving the city to the British.

The lesson here, of course, is that while passion is an admirable quality, passion won't make the trains run on time if you have no idea how a railroad works.

1. If any get into office, the Republicans and corporations
will get together to find them the best staffs money can buy, usually the types who have taken full advantage of the revolving door between lobbying firms and Washington insider jobs.

That's the problem with the teabaggers. We know they're incompetent. We need to know that they won't be allowed to run things, either. We won't like the unelected people who do run things any better.

3. He called O'Donnell: "gidget from hell.." LOL
And the comments are full of Teabaggers in a froth.

Great column... too bad those who need to read it
won't understand it. The future of this country....

4. Dan Ruth is fantastic.
He used to be with the right-wing Tampa Tribune. But, I guess he hit a few too many nerves.

His columns are always memorable. Like one he did a few years ago on Tom Delay. The Napoleon Bonaparte of Bo Weevils.
