Local Republican is "STUNNED" by Teabagger Rally in LTTE.......
We had a Teabagger Rally on September 18th in our little city outside of Akron, my wife and I were pretty sure what was going there when we drove by, but didn't have the stomach to witness it ourselves as we have no tolerance for racist a~~holes. The Cuyahoga Falls Mayor, Sixty-Three year old Don Robart (who has been in office since 1984) was the MC of this joyous event attended by about a Thousand of the Teabag Faithful.

My thinking is he must be trying to tie his OLD Wagon to the Teabag Machine to make sure that crowd "knows" he is "with" them...but I think his plan is going to backfire, as Moderate Republicans, if there are any, will have think twice about his Re-Election now. We opened the local paper to find some very poignant LETTERS TO THE EDITOR on the topic. I thought I would pass this little gem along....I will delete the writers last name but post the link to the paper.

Gotta Love Scott, the man has a brain and it is working!!

Enjoy:

September 26, 2010

As a life-long Republican, I have heard a lot about the Tea Party movement. So, when I saw they were coming to Falls River Square on Sept. 18, I wanted to go check it out. I was stunned by what I found.

I expected a conservative crowd. What I encountered was a group of the most greedy, selfish, spiteful and hate-filled people that I have ever had the misfortune to come across in my life. There was also a disturbing number of people who I believe hated President Obama not because of his policies, but sadly, because of the color of his skin.

These Tea Partiers accepted you if you were white, wealthy and healthy. The vast majority I came across seemed to have no use for the sick, poor, young or minorities.

President Obama is far from perfect, but I think he and our current Congress are at least trying to fight for the common good. The vast majority of the Tea Party seems to only care about what is in it for them.

For the first time in my life, I will be voting a straight Democratic ticket this November to try and fight these people. I invite all other people who care about their fellow humans and have an ounce of compassion left in them to join me.

Scott D

16. I don't know. The comments indicate that he donated to Obama's election
campaign, so if they are right, he might not really be the lifelong Republican he claims to be.

I have to admit, though, that even if his letter is, as it seems it might be, deliberately misleading, I don't have it in my heart to complain, since the RW does nothing but lie and defraud.

3. Tea Party response
All the racists and other haters are Democratic plants. Wow, those are pretty deep plants because the vitriolic rhetoric rolls down from the top.

as we know the love that flows from the baggers can hurt sometimes....I will be the first there to help fight the fire! My wife and I have reaped the wrath of repukes at our church after I wrote LTTEs about Rove and bu$h a few years ago!

19. ya, we call them Christians in Name only...
there is new thinking asking Christians to "follow" Jesus, not just "accept" him...you know, do things like feed the hungry, house the homeless, work for social justice!

Its easy; Matthew 25 is all you need, the rest is gravy.

(my wife lost some of her side work when people read my ltte calling rove a criminal who needs prosecuted for the outing of Valerie Plame.)

12. a side note on Robart ...
He and Democratic Akron mayor Don Plusquellic were both elected to office in the same year ... had the same amount of time in office.

And yet, only cries for DP to quit (in the Akron Beacon Journal) because he's been in there too long. No cries for Robart ...

...would like to believe this is the "real deal," I have doubts. Problem being, for me at least, is that it loses believability when it goes way over the top. A "life-long Republican" has a epiphany from ONE Teabagger event and is now "For the first time in my life, I will be voting a straight Democratic ticket this November to try and fight these people."??? Yeah, sure.. and then monkeys flew out of his butt.

Was his description of Teabaggers as "a group of the most greedy, selfish, spiteful and hate-filled people that I have ever had the misfortune to come across in my life," accurate? Absolutely spot on. Did it come from a freshly "recovering" conservative? Doubtful to me. Would I like it to be so. Of course I would. But if it can't even fool someone like me, who is about as polar opposite of a Teabagger as one can get, how's it gonna fly with those that buy into rightie nonsense?

Not a bad strategy to try, but for it to actually have the desired effect, it needs to be much more subtle and nuanced.

... but if the original was indeed published with the author's full name, that would be a bit tricky for him to pull off.
