The Very Useful Idiocy of Christine O’Donnell Frank Rich
Edited on Sat Oct-02-10 10:47 PM by elleng
'History will always remember her for taking a fearless stand against masturbation, the one national pastime with more fans than baseball. . .

Whatever her other talents, she’s more than willing to play the role of useful idiot for her party. She gives populist cover to the billionaires and corporate interests that have been steadily annexing the Tea Party movement and busily plotting to cash in their chips if the G.O.P. prevails. . .

Along comes this marvelous gift out of nowhere, Christine O’Donnell, Tea Party everywoman, who just may be the final ingredient needed to camouflage a billionaires’ coup as a populist surge. By the time her fans discover that any post-election cuts in government spending will be billed to them, and not the Tea Party’s shadowy backers, she’ll surely be settling her own debts with fat paychecks from “Fox & Friends.”'

2. Rich states....
"Everyone knows that tax cuts for the G.O.P.’s wealthiest patrons must come out of Social Security and Medicare payments for everybody else."

Now that is a message most should be able to understand. Use it in your ads, Dems.

3. Rich's insight is deep, indeed
Frank Rich has written a very insightful op-ed piece about how O'Donnell will serve to get Teabaggers to vote against their own interests, and for the interests of the shadowy financial backers of those innocuous-sounding organizations being funded by oil and media billionaires.

I think Rich is correct: O'Donnell doesn't really expect to serve honorably (or otherwise) in the United States Senate. But as someone with a reported income last year of $5,800 her goal is to be collecting a nice six-figure paycheck on Fox and Friends after the election. She will not be sharing the pain of the angry voters whose support she is trying to harness. Like empty cans of soft drinks, once their useful contents have been drained, they will join the rest of the useless stuff in the billionaires' trash bins. Half of them will still be cheering the people who tossed them there. too.
