5 Scientific Reasons People Who Run Things Will Always Suck
http://www.cracked.com/article_18777_5-scientific-reasons-people-who-run-things-will-always-suck.html

A humor article, but really interesting. It references to a number of psychological experiments dealing with human reaction to feelings of power over others. Some of the linked articles are spooky.

1. Would it shock you to know that it's not a humor article...
and that there is has been a great deal of scientific and psychological research done on the subject over many decades by hundreds of psychologist; and the growing consensus among them is that psychopaths are actually drawn to positions of power?

2. Well, it's a humor article in the sense that...
...it's on a humor site, includes irreverent language, and is oversimplified for the sake of brevity.

4. I agree the language is a little rough...
And the premise that “People Who Run Things Will Always Suck” is not true, but it does speak volumes about conventional politics, which is that the political and social system of the country, and most of the world, has been usurped by the rich psychopaths, and they effectively, one way or another, weed out competent, honest capable people willing to serve.

But it’s good that the ‘concept’ is getting out to people, even if their only looking for humor, in lue of depressing reality; and that’s what makes political parody so important; when your talking to the sheep about the truth you have to make it funny or their not interested in wasting mental energy on their eye's and ears…

3. I'm not certain this relates, but..
I've been thinking about the teabaggers and wondering if any of them ever serve or served on Boards or other committees that require cooperation, mutual respect, communication. If I had acted like these folks (and their Republican naysayers)in any of my Board or other leadership positions, I would have been booted off post-haste!

5. My philosophy has always been that the scum rises to the top, not the cream.
For cream to rise to the top of milk, it must be kept undisturbed. That's not the way life is - it's more like a boiling pot of soup. And when soup boils, scum rises to the top.
