President Obama: "I can only succeed if I've got help" ....
Obama warns against a GOP-led Congress

President Obama implored Democrats on Monday to remember why they sent him to the White House and told supporters that a Republican-led Congress would prevent him from accomplishing his agenda. "I can only succeed if I've got help," Obama said during remarks at a fundraiser at an oceanfront estate in South Florida.

Obama said that while he would like to believe that Republicans would work with him, he's "not optimistic." With unemployment at 9.6%, Obama said he knows Americans are frustrated. But he said the Nov. 2 midterm elections shouldn't be a referendum on where the country is now, but a choice between which party can get the country to where it needs to be.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright! This is an approach that I think will be more effective at moving people to action.....

"I can't do this alone. I need your help."

He should read up on what our party is supposed to stand for, and get his arse in gear. We didnt leave him, he left us. He can start by ending te dumb wars and disbanding his catfood commission. And then he can start yelling at our congressman to get them in line.

15. "We didn't leave him, he left us"?
Oh please. You abandoned him the day he took the oath. You sat on your ass and expected him to fix the world in one week and when he didn't you pooped your drawers with impotent rage.

9. Me to base:
President Obama is doing the fucking SENSIBLE PRACTICAL thing by compromising because not all Democrats are progressive, thus making it harder to pass liberal legislation!!!!

he wanted through, so compromise was necessary.
Arguing with a blockhead like you is a waste of time!!!

24. Compromising for nothing
Well said! And on each piece of legislation "our side" compromised to get Rethug #1 to support it but after we watered it down a bit to suit them they renegged on the deal, so we compromised some more to get Rethug #2 support, watered down even more, then they bailed on it so we compromised with Rethug #...

Then when all was said and done none of the Rethugs voted for it but WE KEPT ALL THEIR CRAP IN THE BILL. They compromised on NOTHING, we compromised on EVERYTHING and still got no support from the psychos on the right. How many G.D. times do you have to see the same scenario play out before you wise the "F" up and stop compromising? At what point, exactly, do you grow a G.D. backbone!

Blame the left? As the Pres' good friend would say: "Hell NO you don't!!!"

23. Double F**ing BINGO
Obama is supposed to have been a student of FDR and JFK. So why is he behaving like Hoover? He knows well the history and what the REAL Democratic Presidents had to do to get this nation out of the ditch (same damn thing today as for FDR).

I can't even count the number of times I've commented on whitehouse.gov that O' needs to get off his oval office and bust some heads (both on the other side AND on "our" side). Now that we're facing a possible loss of both the House and the Senate he finally stops bitching at the base and says he needs us.

Well, when they came to foreclose on our houses --- WE NEEDED YOU

When they stole 1/3 to 1/2 of our 401k funds --- WE NEEDED YOU

When we lost our jobs --- WE NEEDED YOU

When we worked night and day to elect a True Democrat, not a center-right Republican --- WE NEEDED YOU... to be FDR, not Dr. Smith from Lost in Space.

2.  I agree with him but I really wish he had thought this way before he made deals with
Big Pharma and the hospitals. It is only when public perception sees us as no longer on the side of the people that we struggle. If we had a public option, our fight would never have been this difficult. If we can save either house we need less of a tin ear and topass a public option , reinforce Choice and repeal DADT, which are things the GOP will NEVER do and we can no longer afford to bargain.

4. Well you wouldn't allow our voices to be heard, now you want our help?
We remember President Obama when you did not allow single-payer a seat at the table.

Almost without exception President Obama you have continually ignored and pushed progressives aside.

11. you raised a couple very good points. I have been disappointed too. The only thing I can say
however, is that I consider the possibility of Republicans gaining seats, especially in the Senate, as a very dismal prospect. I am just arguing from practicality. I just think things will be much worse over the next two years with more of the American al Kaida in the House and Senate.

8. Judging from the comments above ...
I predict, but hope like hell I'm wrong, that we will get the government that we deserve (and I suspect, some of you have wanted all along) ... Democrats in the minority. That way our penchant for sniping will be universally accepted.

Sad ... Just so sad.

18. This Congress couldn't get anything done with the biggest
Democratic majority in my lifetime. Starting with investigation into actual torture and the criminal Invasion of Iraq. He traded these away for confirmation of Eric Holder. The rule of law isn't a bargaining chip.

10. I agree. Obama needs help,
but I will NOT help President Obama:

*Keep the WARS/Occupations going

*Expand the "War on Terror" to any other nations

*Expand "Free Trade"

*Cut Social Security/Medicare

*Order ALL Americans to BUY Health Insurance without a Public Option

*Give Get Out of Jail FREE cards to War Criminals and Wall Street Crooks

*Bailout ANY more Banks

*Privatize the Public Schools

*Withhold Equal Rights and Equal Protections from ANYONE...NO exceptions

*Help conservative Blue Dogs get re-elected (i.e. Blanche Lincoln)

*Expand the powers of the Unitary Executive

*Reinforce the Patriot Act

*Expand spying on American Citizens

*Direct Public Money to Private Prisons, armed Private Police, armed Defense Contractors, private intelligence agencies, or For Profit Health Insurance Corporations.

I will actively OPPOSE any and all of the above.

"If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for,
at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them."

25. Indeed
Eating ourselves.

Shooting ourselves in the foot.

I guess it's some folks way of relieving themselves of their responsibility: Blame everyone else for their failure to have government act correctly.

Easy to do.... even I blame them for our failure to overcome the republicans.

Replace departing DLCers and Wall Street sociopaths with seasoned progressives. There really are such people. You used to even talk to them.
